To those who know me well, they know that I’m really quite awful at taking time off to relax. I usually intend to take at least a day a week, but as life gets crazy and deadlines need to get met, I often find myself scrambling on the weekends to get everything done. And when the weeks are crazy, and the weekends even crazier – sometimes a gal just needs some good ‘ole R&R. And that’s exactly what I did when I hit up Michigan with my boyfriend and his family last weekend.

We spent a few days eating too much junk food {nom!}, falling asleep on the beach, and spending the evenings bonfire-side. Basically, it was the perfect way to spend one of the last summer weekends, and I can finally check Michigan off the list of midwest states I’ve been to. IMG_0150My usual weekend uniform has consisted of a striped t-shirt dress and my favorite converse kicks. It’s comfy, easy {my favorite quality}, and makes me appear put together even when I don’t totally feel like it. Paired with some delicate gold jewelry by Blake Valentine {one of my new favorite brands!}, I was ready to hit the town, or beach I should say. IMG_0125_2IMG_0164_2IMG_0169_2IMG_0179_2IMG_0184_2IMG_0196_2IMG_0198Alright, I’m totally all in on the Converse wagon – how perfect are these kicks for summer? Needless to say, I’ll be trying my hardest not to retire them for fall – I think they’ll need to stick around a little longer.

Agreed – we all need a vacation every once in awhile (aka, at least once a month, right?!) Hope moving in with the boy is going well! xx

YES! an easy, but so cute summer dress + converse sneakers. I love it. also, aren’t getaways to relax the best? I, too, have never been to Michigan. very soon! glad you got to sneak away for some R&R 🙂
