Ahhhh, Valentine’s Day. There’s a part of me that really loves you, but another part of me that’s not-so-into it. Let’s discuss, shall we?
The pros:
– A legit excuse to wear hearts…on everything {see exhibit A above.}
– A day where every girl can get behind the color pink – because even if you hate it, it’s kinda cute on Valentine’s Day.
– You tell people you love that you love them, or at least like them a lot. And if you really like them, you can pull the “I love you and I like you”, Parks and Rec style.
– YOU CAN EAT ALL THE TREATS. I REPEAT – ALL THE TREATS! Similarly to Thanksgiving, on Valentine’s Day calories don’t count. And donuts count as negative calories {please refer to scientific journals for further evidence. I’m sure it’s an asterix somewhere in there…}
– Sometimes you get a tasty meal out of it, and some pretty awesome company too 🙂
The cons:
– When you’re an adult, Valentine’s Day isn’t quite as epic as when you were little. Back in the day, you hoped your super secret crush would put a special valentine in your grocery bag turned awesome Vday mailbox that you spent 2+ hours perfecting – which rarely ever actually happened. Once I got rocks though in the 5th grade, which is still probably the best V-Day gift to date {when you’re a teeny tiny hippie, rocks are pretty much the best gift ever.}
– There’s all this pressure to make it awesome, and fancy, and epic – but you really just want to eat pizza, drink wine and find a movie on Netflix that no one has to compromise over.
– All my single ladies and dudes feel extra snubbed, which is pretty legit. If you’re feeling bummed, give me a ring – we can talk cap about boys or girls, and find the closest cupcake shop to you. Cupcakes fix all!
Clearly, I’m a little torn on the pro/against Valentine’s Day debate, but regardless – I’m still excited for Saturday. I have a cute date, tickets to a comedy show, and plans to chill out all weekend – not to shabby, right? I hope all your Valentine’s dreams come true, and your crush delivers and extra special valentine in your valentine’s day box if you’re still in the market 😉
Thanks for the photos, Kelly!

Valentine's Day also means I have to shave my legs so I'm all….meh.
I still regret not purchasing this shirt! I remember it being all the rage. Sounds like you have a great date planned. Enjoy 🙂
Hahaha I love eating allllll the teats! That is probably the best part about Valentines day. Love your skirt. The buttons up the front are super cute and it's got a great retro vibe.
