skirting the rules.

You know what I love about vacation: There are absolutely no rules.
In my daily life, I have a habit of making rules for myself that I don’t even notice – and it’s not until I’m away from home that I realize all the habits I’ve created for myself. Don’t eat dinner after 9 {unless it’s popcorn, because popcorn trumps all}, don’t watch too much tv, don’t talk to strangers on the train, don’t sleep so late on the weekends that you waste the day away…etc. On vacation, you can do pretty much whatever the heck you want, and it’s perfectly okay. You can sleep until noon if you really want to, have a drink with lunch {and happy hour, and dinner, and second dinner too}, and spend the whole day wandering rather than answering the pesky emails that keep flooding your inbox. Basically, vacation is real nice – and I think we should have a lot more of it for everyone all the time. Who’s with me?!
While doing the whole vacationing thing, I wore a few of my favorite summery pieces while enjoying the sunnier weather. I’ve always wanted a tulle skirt {I tried a not-so-successful DIY version a few winters ago that ended in complete failure and hot glue gun scars}, so this lavender one from Bohme was perfect paired with one of my favorite graphic tees – and a lot less painful 😉

LOVE the tulle skirt – I've always wanted one, too, bu I'm afraid I can't pull it off quite as well as you. The color is so unique, too. Glad you were able to unplug and relax during your vacation – everybody deserves that!

I couldn't agree more: no rules and champagne at all hours of the day? yes please! This skirt is so beautiful and a very wearable Carrie Bradshaw-esque style, I LOVE it! Heading to Marco Island in March and I cannot wait to sleep in and soak up some sunshine that the midwest is seriously lacking!
