Everlane white button down // Mark & Graham Elisabetta Slouch Handbag // Skinny Jeans // Tory Burch Heels (sold out, but these are super similar, and love these more affordable options here and here)
I was going to start out this post by saying “Happy Monday!”, but I realize that after saying that for years and years, Monday’s aren’t really all that happy. They usually involve violently hitting the snooze button a few too many times (most Mondays I’m up to a healthy 5 snoozes per morning…), stumbling around for keys and remembering to bring my laptop charger back to work, getting stuck on a crowded train and trudging through the morning catching up on weekend emails and trying to keep my head above water. So maybe rather than saying “Happy Monday!”, starting out this post by saying, “It’s Monday.” would be a little more appropriate 😉
But, I really shouldn’t complain over here because I had a lovely weekend back home celebrating my sweet friend Tomissa’s bachelorette party back in Madison. We had dinner at El Dorado Grill in my childhood neighborhood, and then did a little tour of the best, oldest dive bars in Madison. You know when you’ve found a bar that has $8.50 pitcher Miller High Life that you’ve come to the right place. Definitely beats the beer prices back home in Chicago! It was so fun celebrating with Tomissa and meeting her hilarious, sweet and truly warm friends. And now I’m getting even more excited to celebrate their wedding in October so soon!
I spent most of Sunday coming down with a cold and kept a low profile sleeping and hanging around my parents house most of the day. I wish I could say that I felt terrible because I was was super hungover after an epic bachelorette night out – but I only had 3 drinks (I’ve been trying to be a little less boozy these days…) and I’ve never actually had a hangover before. And yes, I know, it’s infuriating that as a 29 year old I’ve never had to deal with the pain and suffering that a hangover can cause – but I’m sure one day it will catch up with me and I’ll have the worst hangover the world has ever seen. It seems only fair after having had so many hangover-free years – especially those times where I definitely should have had a hangover that knocked me out for a day or two. Anyways, I’m still getting over the creeping crud that’s been knocking me out since yesterday, but I’m staying home to try to knock it out for good so the rest of the week isn’t quite so painful. I did get to sneak out for a little bit this weekend and take some photos with Katie of Little Black Blog, who lives in Madison and was sweet enough to take a few photos for me! I picked up this new oversized button down from Everlane (mine is a size 2, but I could have probably gone down another size since it’s pretty oversized!) and I love that it’s perfect tucked into jeans with heels, or good to wear with boyfriend jeans and flats tucked out for a more casual weekend look.
I’ve also been loving my new Mark & Graham Elisabetta Slouch Handbag (currently $100 off!) that I’ve been eyeing over the last year or so. It’s the perfect buttery brown color, and I love that it can fit just about anything in it – a pair of shoes, my iPad, wallet, keys, you name it. I even snuck a change of clothes in there the other day and it still kept its shape. It’s become a personal challenge to see what all I can fit in there before it looks completely ridiculous – and so far I’ve been pretty surprised what I’ve been able to pull off 😉 I hope you all have an exciting week ahead of you! I’m planning to head back to Chicago tonight to gear up for a busy week with a few big meetings to prep for, a dinner with my friend Steph for sweetgreen tomorrow night, and getting ready for my parents to come visit later this week/weekend. If you have any parent-approved things to do in Chicago, please share! I’m usually pretty bad at getting my weekend itinerary ready before they arrive, so any help is appreciated 🙂 xx
Glad you had a fun weekend up here in WI! Love this outfit on you, so classic and can work for anything. Cheers to the start of the week!
I loved this look – and that bag! Ugh. Just adorable. Was great seeing you and hope to see you again soon xx
