I realized it’s been a hot minute since I’d updated you all about life lately {where has the time gone?!}, so I thought I’d go through some of the highlights in the last few weeks. Now that it’s finally been nice outside {or at least mostly so}, I’ve been getting my booty out of my condo and exploring the city more/making more of an effort to get together with friends. Luckily for you there are a few more things going on than a few months ago, where my only big life update revolved around watching Netflix and drinking too much wine 😉
Okay, enough rambling! Here are some of the highlights of the past few weeks! Anytime I get to go to SoHo house, I get ridiculously excited – not only because it’s so much fun to eat there and have a few drinks, but also because the space is so darn gorgeous. I went a few weeks ago to a brunch there hosted by Everything But The House and Sophia Bush {it was literally my teenage One Tree Hill dream come to LIFE!} and it was so fun meeting so many inspiring ladies and interior designers in the city. I was pretty sure I was invited by mistake {shhh….}, but I was SO happy to get to go and learn more about Everything But The House and meet Sophia in person over a gorgeous brunch spread. Since discovering EBTH, I’ve already bought bookends, a vintage catch all, AND a bar cart I picked up last weekend with my mom – I’m so excited to share it soon! If you’re looking for vintage decor at a steal, I can’t recommend EBTH enough! My family came to town a few weekends ago, and we got to experience all the “touristy” things in Chicago that Chicagoans almost feel guilty about doing without visiting friends and family in tow, but that almost makes it even more fun. We went to the Field Museum and checked out Sue, their new tattoo exhibit {furthering the fact that I will never be badass enough for a tattoo} and their amazing native Americans exhibit. I feel like every time I go to the museum I could spend the whole day exploring, but we finally tapped out of museum time and went and got lunch at Goddess and the Grocer, which was delicious as always! I also had the chance to have brunch at Nico Ostoria with a few of my favorite ladies, Jess, Sarah and Katie a few weekends ago! I had been to Nico awhile back for dinner and loved the ambiance and food {I mean, that bar above…yes, please!} and it was so so nice to catch up on life – I feel like it doesn’t happen enough with everything that’s always going on, especially in the summer. If you happen to be looking for a new brunch spot in Chicago, you should definitely give Nico a try! Speaking of great spots in Chicago, I also grabbed drinks with a few friends at Cindy’s Rooftop when my blogger friend Kaylee was in town! Now that it’s officially patio season, I’ve been re-visting a few of my favorite places in Chicago, and Cindy’s is definitely at the top of my list of places to grab a cocktail. This Aperol spritz was the perfect way to kick off the weekend…now I just have to learn how to make them at home in time for summer. In other news, I recently discovered Blue Mercury and I’ve completely fallen in love…have you ever been? I usually feel overwhelmed at a beauty store, but Blue Mercury does such a fabulous job of curating the best brands and products, including their own M-61 line that I adore. I was also lucky enough to go to their grand opening celebration last Thursday at their River North location, and it was so fun meeting the founders and scooping up a few of my favorite beauty products. I’ve been using their new Power Glow eye cream and it’s seriously a game-changer. As someone with chronically sleepy eyes, it’s done a pretty amazing job of firming the lines under my eyes and making me look more refreshed…even when I’m not 😉 My sweet friend Ali, the founder of Alice and Wonder, just opened up her first store front in Lincoln Park! I’ve long been a fan of her online store, and I’m so excited that her new place is just a few blocks away from my house, which makes it the perfect destination for last minute gifting and finding blog post pieces for an affordable price! Her pieces and accessories are so darn cute, and I am so so proud of this amazing girlboss for all she’s accomplished since she launched her store just a few years ago. If you’re looking for the cutest new shop in Chicago, look no further. I celebrated the end of last week saying adios to a job that I’ve loved over the past year. It was such a treat to work with such kind and talented people at Ogilvy, and I’m so thankful for all that I’ve learned from them. We celebrated with drinks {frozé!} at The Hampton Social, and it was bittersweet to say goodbye to so many amazing co-workers. I’m onto my next adventure, which I’m excited to share more about soon in the coming weeks! And here’s just a pretty picture of the city because I’m so in love with Chicago when it’s beautiful outside. How can you not love this view?!
So…be honest, are these little life updates interesting – or nah? I’m still trying to figure out if these are worthwhile, but sometimes it’s fun to virtually catch up! xx
So glad I got to experience a few of these great spots with you! I’m so ready for summer in Chicago and get out into the city!! I didn’t know you left your job, I can’t wait to hear what you are up to now!!
