I’ll be honest with you, it’s not even the holiday season yet and I’m already a little {okay, a lot…} overwhelmed these days. Between work being a little nuts, attempting to have some sort of semblance of a personal life, it’s been a little hard keeping everything in balance these days. Anyone else in the same boat? I feel like I need a giant pause button to just catch up on life, and maybe a few glasses of wine too 😉
But some of the things that help me maybe feel like I kinda have my life together is tidying up, and giving a few of my favorite spaces a little bit of a face lift. And the space that I spend the most time in {and feels the most like home}, has always been my living room. It’s the space I eat dinner {while binge watching Parenthood on nights alone!}, have a few glasses of wine after a long day and of course, blog late at night once my “work work” is done. It’s colorful, cozy, and the perfect space to unwind {and un-wine} after a long day of work – especially after making a few cozy updates to my space for winter. One of my favorite parts of my living room is this somewhat random collection of matchbooks I’ve collected from around the world. Whenever I stop in a new city, I always try to scoop a matchbook, and my current coffee table selection is overflowing with ones from cute restaurants in Austin, Prague, France, Germany and home sweet Chicago. I’m usually against collecting too many things, but a little something is perfect for my itty bitty condo. Another little thing that I love is this typewriter that I’ve definitely used more for decorating than typing any real letters, but I love it just the same. It also serves as a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most beautiful things take time – and slowing down is always a good idea. My aunt gave this smith corona to me for my college graduation, and I have another mini black typewriter my grandpa handed down to me a few months ago – which makes my little typewriter collection even more special and meaningful. To give my living room a little bit more of a seasonal feel, I scored a few calming blue pieces from Annie Selke, an adorable home decor online store I recently discovered. While I clearly love color, I wanted something a little more calming for the winter months, and this indigo blue throw and oversized blue ombre pillows were too gorgeous to pass up. I love that Annie Selke is all about style, comfort and quality, and these pieces are definitely bringing a little more happy into my home – especially during the upcoming winter months. And because I can never pass up a little extra color, the mini rug above from Annie Selke to add a little more vibrance to my entryway. And, because Annie Selke wants to spread the love {and add a few more of your soon-to-be favorite things in your space} they’re giving away 3 $500 gift cards to a few lucky readers! I love the matchbook idea! I’ve always wanted to have some sort of collection from where I’ve traveled. 🙂
