JCrew Leather Skirt // J.Crew Tissue Turtleneck // Black Leather Boots {similar} // Tory Burch Kira Clutch // Madewell Necklace // Loft Bracelets // J.Crew Field Jacket I have a confession to make {and one that I’m not too proud of}: when it comes to work wear….
I’m not very fashionable.
Yeah, I know – it’s seems ironic for a fashion blogger to kinda suck at getting ready for work – but for some reason it pains me in the morning to get ready most days. And, I guess there are a few reasons for my weekday transgressions. For one, as much as I wish I was someone who could wake up at 6AM to take a quick run, make some fancy oatmeal, and look perfect for work – I’m more of the gal who wakes up at 8:15 just in time to have 15 minutes to get ready before officially missing the train. Believe me, it’s not ideal. Sure, I set my alarm for 7AM, but for some reason I can’t bring myself to be a morning person, no matter how hard I try. If you happen to have any tips, please share with the class! And another reason why I’m not so fashionable when it comes to work? Girlfriend likes to be comfy – especially in the colder months on the year. There’s nothing worse then spending the day pulling down your skirt, wishing you would have brought a sweater, or sweating through your blazer {ehhh, TMI? I apologize in advance…} But for real, when it comes to work I usually wear the same get-up: jeans, a sweater, high boots and a scarf for extra warmth when those conference rooms are extra chilly. But, despite being lazy when it comes to work wear – every once in awhile I do give it a good, old fashioned try. See exhibit A above! And I find myself in an odd situation, because every time I do try, I have my lovely co-workers ask, “Are you shooting today?” Clearly, they know me well.
Last week, I did give it a go and paired my new favorite tissue turtle neck with this leather J.Crew skirt. They’ve both been on constant rotation this fall, and I couldn’t resist wearing them together on a day I felt a little more motivated for work. And, to my surprise – I was actually comfy, cozy and totally work-wear appropriate, who knew. Here’s to hoping to give more days a try, even when I wake up 45 minutes later than anticipated 😉
cute outfit! i love the black and white. xo jillian – cornflake dreams
I feel like you’re talking about me! I have no motivation when it comes to getting dressed for work and don’t even get me started on my hair lol. I usually roll up in skinnies, flats and a top of some sort. Have you inspired me to put in a little more effort?….we shall see 😉
