mercury in retrograde is back for blood…literally.

Friends, family, internet buddies – I have an announcement to make: It’s officially Mercury in Retrograde all over again, and this time it’s out for blood – literally. Let me explain…
Every few months, Mercury comes back again to just totally mess with life, and now it’s back at it again from now ’till June 11th. Last year was the first time I experienced the not-so-glorious astrology phenomenon, and while I thought it was all hullabaloo at first,  I’ve slowly become a believer. I started reading more about it via my sweet friend Elizabeth’s blog {read up on the one we’re currently in now} and started to piece things together – relationships got weird, my klutziness was out of control and it seemed like everyone was having a hard time.
When it started again last Monday I tried to not freak myself out over it – things have been good lately, so I thought “why not keep riding the wave?” My day seemed pretty standard: too many meetings, minor social emergencies at work, and lots of laughs with my co-workers. But then, on my way out the door I hit my funny bone, started to feel dizzy and minutes later I woke up on the concrete floor partially covered in blood. Yeah….Mercury is totally back in action.
One trip to the hospital (and my first ride in an ambulance!) and 7 staples later I was on my way home {or Taco Bell…I might have gone to Taco Bell…} and am now on the mend. Needless to say, I’m hoping that Mercury is done with me now, because I’ve had enough fun for one mean cycle.
But really, like when any bad things happen – it’s important to focus on the positive, right? Here are a few things that are the silver lining to the next few Mercury filled weeks.

#1: This tunic from Vineyard Vines is my new go-to for those weird in-between spring/summer days {read: the weather in Chicago right now}. It’s light, airy, but gives you just enough coverage to not feel so chilly when the weather unexpectedly turns on you {unlike Mercury, who seems to be a cruel beeotch}

#2: It’s sandal weather!!! Seriously – my toes have never experienced such freedom since last year, and it’s glorious. Grab your favorite pair and get frolicking, or something 😉
#3: My sweet friend Holly at Vera Bradley sent me this beyond gorgeous bag to try our, and I’m officially in love. I used to think Vera Bradley was mostly colorful, printed bags, but their new lines feature some more subtle and luxe leather bags too. Best of all, everything fits in it, meaning that you’re ready to take on anything the universe throws at you {learn from me – always bring band-aids!}

#4: I seriously have the best friends and guy in the world. Besides dealing with my embarrassingly fainty self, they stuck by me for hours at the hospital {and even covered for me at work when I had to take the next day off!} I owe them a little piece of my soul, or at least a plate full of cookies.

I hope Mercury is kind to all of you in the next few weeks! Avoid crazy life changes, putting yourself in danger and other not-so-safe adventures if you can 😉 xx
Thanks for the photos Kelly!

    I am so happy you are fine now! It is always great to have friends that will help and cover for you. I love your top too because the weather has been so chilly where I live!

    Mercury retrograde is NO JOKE OKAY. I was just telling my friend at work about it and she was looking at me like I was crazy. Nooooo, pay heed!

    So glad you're okay! How scary! Here's hoping for a speedy recovery and no more MR mishaps. 🙂

    Oh my goodness! I have to admit that I've never heard of this whole thing, but I'll definitely be watching my back for the next couple weeks. I'm glad you're okay, too – how scary! On the upside, you look great and that VB purse is just fab. 🙂

    Omg, I can't believe that happened to you! 🙁 I'm so glad to hear that you're ok though! This phenomenon is not a thing to ignore. I hadn't even heard about it until a couple of days ago, but last week was seriously one of my worst ones to date and now I know why! I hope you survive the rest of it! Why does it have to be so long!?
