Happy 2014 ladies & gents! Hope you rung in the New Year in style.
As a total goal-setting nerd, I always get excited for New Years resolutions – and this year is no exception {see last years goal laundry list here}. I’ve decided to keep the list long because I’ve got quite a few things I’m looking to work on in 2014, especially since I’m turning the big 2-5 in February!
Here’s what I’m hoping to tackle in 2014:
make our house a home: On January 6th, we’re finally getting out of our closet sized apartment and into our very own place! Now that we’ve found a place we want to stay in for the long haul, I’m hoping to get the place together so it feel like home. Oh, I’m also completely stoked at the prospect of having my very own desk – it’s like Christmas came extra early.
travel more: Last year I had the great fortune to tackle a few new cities and countries off my bucket list. I had the most amazing adventure in Paris with my father, Charleston with my mother and more recently New Orleans with my family. Next year I’m hoping to go on a few more little trips throughout the year, like visiting friends in NYC, L.A., Vancouver and the Pacific Northwest. My wanderlusting heart will be very happy if it all works out!
get back to the studio: Yikes, it’s been awhile since I’ve been to yoga. In college, I frequented my favorite yoga studio more than the bars, so I’m hoping to get more yoga love back in my life. Our new place is conveniently located near a studio – so hopefully that will get my booty back to the mat {and back in shape too!}
drink more greens: When you’ve got a killer Vitamix, you might as well use it right? I need to juice some greens {and fruits} to keep my insides happy as my outsides.
invest in my future: Oh early 20’s, you were so reckless & spent waaaay too much money at J.Crew. I’ve been trying to curb my spending, but I also need to get investing in my future. That 401k I swore I would set up…yeah, I should do that. That whole Roth IRA thing that I’m confused about? Yeah, I should probably google that too. Bare with me, and feel free to send me any tips because it looks like I’ll really be needing it.
blog a lot: 2013 was a wonderful year for my little corner of the internet thanks to all your love and support. I had a blast getting more into style posts {which make me so ridiculously embarrassed}, hosting a few fun giveaways, and launching the Midwest Style Bloggers network. I hope to continue to learn, grow & have fun in our fabulous style blogging community!
focus more on photography: Photography has always been one of my passions, but I’m hoping to continue to learn & grow my skills in 2014. I’ve saving up my pennies for a new camera, a few classes & setting my sights on booking a few events next year. I’ll let you know how that all goes….
r.e.l.a.x: One thing I haven’t chatted about on here is my struggle with anxiety. Homegirl has a lot of worries, many of which aren’t too justifiable. I have an amazing life, but sometimes the little things give me a world of anxiety. I’m hoping to focus on the good, remember to breathe & relax more next year.
grow my music library: I’ve really sucked at that whole ‘music’ thing over the last few years & I’m hoping to get back at it this year. First things first, I need to get my crazy music library under control. The 14 year old me will be crying inside {goodbye, Spice Girls}, but the 24 year old me will be oh-so happy.
drink more water {& look like jennifer aniston too} – Don’t we all? Luckily for me, I have Dani’s Daily Notepad to make me track my H20 intake everyday. Thanks homegirl!
So, how am I going to get these all done? I’m hoping that a lot of luck & sheer determination help me kick my booty into gear. I’m also planning on printing out the graphic above and keeping it at home & work to remind me throughout the year because let’s face it – come mid February I’ll totally forget.
Have any big resolutions for 2014? Let’s hear ’em! Good luck! xx
Happy New Year, Maya! These are some great resolutions! I'm also hoping to improve my camera skills this year. I've had my DSLR for over a year now and still rarely shoot in manual!
I love all of these goals!! I have a lot of the same goals in mind (although I technically only chose to track after two). Have fun making your house into a home, it is one of the most rewarding processes in the world!!
Happy New Year Maya!
