Uh oh. Houston, we have a problem – a sugar problem to be exact. It’s taken me far too long to realize it, but the first step is admitting you have a problem, right?
Okay, first things first – I’ve always been a sugar fiend. My parents recall my first sentence, which was in reaction to my grandmother slipping me a Pepsi for the first time. I took a sip, looked up amazed, and exclaimed, “WHAT. IS. THAT?” I feel for it hook, line, sinker – I was officially a sugar fiend in the making. Any day, give me donuts, cakes, cookies, chocolate & anything else sugar coated and I’m one happy camper.
My slight addiction goes beyond a regular run-of-the-mill sugar love – I seem to need it with every meal. Mornings consist of cereal and a tall non-fat caramel macchiato, lunch is complete with a sugary drink & something chocolaty, and dinner is never complete without a decadent desert. Worst of all, when I’m having a bad day, or a good day, or an a-okay day I feel the need to treat myself to something sweet.
But no more! I’m ready to take a real break from sugars {excpet for the au naturale variety}. I’ll let you know how I assume this painful adventure goes. Have you ever given up sugar, and if so, how did it go? Please teach me your ways because I could use all the help I could get! xx
I've considered doing this too since I have such a sweet tooth! I'm not a sugary drink person, but love a good cookie or piece of chocolate. Keep me posted on how it goes! Sending you lots of will-power friend!!
I have given up sugar before and it was HAAARD. But it seemed that the cravings went away in about 3 days. Best of luck! (Loving the new look too!)
I'm lucky that I don't really have a thing for sugar. With the exception of natural fruit sugars, I really don't have it much (probably because I've never had a can of soda in my life. Yeah, I was a weird child). However, I do have a carb obsession, so it all balanced out haha.
Baked goods & chocolate do it for me, so I definitely eat too much sugar on accident. Thankfully I don't eat fried foods or cheese or anything crappy like that, but just sugar. haha!
I don't have a sugar problem per se but I definitely have tried to cut down over the years! I replaced lattes with green tea, diet soda (for the most part) with (lemon or fruit-infused) sparkling water and try to just have fruit for dessert when I want something sweet. You can do it!
My addiction is chocolate. A chocolate after every meal is necessary for my survival. I feel your pain, sister!

Chocolate for me too! I don't eat that much other sugar but I NEED my chocolate, maybe not as much as I am eating though. Good Luck:)!!
Oh lord, giving up sugar sounds pretty miserable to me. It's def my favorite food group. 😉 To keep from getting out of hand I typically just allow myself one small treat after dinner. I look forward to it all day and enjoy every bite. Trader Joes has some yummy mini ice cream cones or bon bon's that I'll allow myself ONE of. The 100 calorie Dark Chocolate candy bars they have are great too.
Good luck girl! I don't crave sugar per say… but its crazy how much sugar is in some of the things I eat anyway! That's why I use MyFitnessPal! Not only does it help me stay on track with calories, it has always REALLY helped me realize the foods/drinks I have where I am taking in too much sugar and sodium. But anyway, my weakness is all things fatty. I LOVE CHEESE and nachos, burgers, chicken wings… the list goes on. So we all have our vices. I have just felt better eating healthier overall and it might be a challenge at first, but when you start feeling really good from the inside out, it will just stick!
