Last Saturday morning, a few ladies and myself hosted the Midwest Style Bloggers Chicago brunch. It was an absolute blast to meet other fabulous bloggers in the area – especially being a newbie to Chicago still. We enjoyed a delicious brunch in the sun room of Quay, meeting new and old blogging friends, and the swankiest swag bags filled with goodies.
Here are a few lessons I learned from the event:
- Three heads are better than one: planning and event is always more work than you think it’s going to be. Spoiler alert: it’s totally worth it. I had the great fortune of having three other ladies to help me get the ball rolling. Since all of us bloggers are crazy busy, it helps having some other people batting in your court. Sarah, Alison and Amanda were the perfect ladies to plan the event with – and it wouldn’t have been as successful as it was without their help!
- Bloggers are talented and smart: There are some super talented and nice ladies in Chicago! It was great having a chance to sit down over a delicious brunch {do you see those pancakes up there, yum!} and get a chance to know the girls behind the blogs. We chatted about everything – from our day jobs to SEO {and these ladies knew their stuff}. Needless to say, there was never a dull moment and the 2 hours seemed to fly by.
- It never hurts to ask: Just like mom always said, it never hurts to ask. Even though I’m usually pretty bashful when it comes to asking for things, I gave it a try and successfully secured some fabulous sponsors to join us for the event! Special thanks for Tieks, Berco’s Popcorn, Langford Market, Vita Coco Water, Two Rubies, Thyme Is Honey, OPI, Bloomingdales, Comfort Me, Jouer, Red Apple Lipstick & more!
- It’s all about having fun: Even though we all have different reasons for blogging, we keep doing it because of the relationships we build, and how fun it still is. Truthfully, sometimes it’s fruterating, and easy to get caught up in the “blogger envy” game, but there’s always so many more pros than cons. I’ve had the fortune of becoming blogger friends with ladies around the country, and I’m excited to know more bloggers who live nearby. Hopefully we’ll have even more fun events in the very near future!
an extra special thanks to Amanda, Sarah & Alison for helping me organize such a fun event!
awe looks like a blast, wish we could have attending, silly timing.
