On Trend: My Favorite Lace Top

 Lace Top {similar on sale!} // Skinny Jeans {on sale!} // Leopard Flats {similar} // Purse {similar here and here} // Black Blazer {my favorite!}

Oh hey there, Monday! After a rainy, cold weekend in Chicago, we’re already back to the grind of the workweek, with more grey skies on the horizon. I know we’ve all said it, but I’m officially over this whole wintery/rain mix we’re been having for the past few weeks. Bring on the sun – and Chicago patio season, please!

I tried to take thing easy this weekend (the weather helped make that a little easier) and sprinkled some fun in between with friends I hadn’t seen for a while, which was much-needed after a few hectic weeks. On Saturday I stopped over to see my friend Kit and Charles for dinner (she was recipe testing some tasty wine pasta!) and watched The Greatest Showman. I’d been wanting to see the movie ever since it came out last year, and despite the mixed reviews I actually really loved it. The music is so good and I’ve already listened to the album a few times…I’d definitely recommend if you’re debating what to watch next on movie night.

On Saturday I got together with Kira and Kelly and their husbands (plus Emma!) for brunch at a cute restaurant down the street from our houses. We all live in the same neighborhood, so it was fun to get together after everyone was off traveling the past few weeks. It’s so nice to have such close friends nearby to spend a rainy morning with and we all ate way too many chilaquiles and French fries (always the sign of a successful brunch!)

The rest of the weekend I was totally hooked on Wild Wild Country on Netflix, and after pacing myself for a few weeks, I finally finished it up. And holy crap, you guys – it’s crazy! If you haven’t heard of it – it’s a documentary series that covers an Indian cult/commune that moved to the middle of nowhere Oregon in the early 80’s and things get craaaaazy when the people in a neighboring town start pushing back on the community (they did some pretty sketchy stuff, so it all makes sense). I don’t want to give too much away, but if you’re into thrilling documentaries (Making A Murderer, The Keepers, etc.) it’s definitely worth a watch. I was so nervous by the end of the third episode that I had to do some serious research on if I could keep watching it – but I promise, it’s worth watching the whole thing from start to finish – and it’s only 6 (1 hour) episodes. If you end up watching it, please let me know so I have someone I can talk about it with 🙂 Anyways, in other news (that’s a lot less binge-watching focused), I’ve been seriously craving spring – so much so that I’ve decided that I’m going to dress like it’s nice outside no matter the weather. This usually results in being cold 10 minutes after leaving the house, but at this point I’m not sure if there’s ever going to be an appropriate time to wear my favorite spring pieces anymore.

I’ve been on a big lace kick over the past few weeks (again, as I cross my fingers for spring…) and I’ve been gravitating towards white lace pieces paired with skinny or boot cut jeans. There’s something so classic about a white lace top, and it makes me feel like warmer weather is just around the corner…even if that really means weeks away. I picked out this bow tie white shirt so I could wear it to work with a blazer, but it’s also pretty fun on its own paired with jeans. I rounded up a few of my favorite, classic white lace tops that are good for work, the weekend, or anything in between below!

Anyone have anything fun to look forward to this Monday? Last night I had one of my best friends from high school come visit (she, her husband and her dog are doing a big road trip around the U.S.!) so I’m extra thankful that I’m working in the city at a photo shoot today rather than having to drive out the burbs. City days are always my favorite days, and I love when I get to sleep in ’till 7AM. It’s the little things…

I hope you all have a fun week to look forward too! Good luck surviving Monday 😉 xx
