Sharing a few tips on how to destress this summer with CBD, tweaks to my daily routine, and how to be more social without draining yourself in the process – which is always important during the busy summer months!
How to Destress this Summer with CBDAnother day, another post in my PJs, because that’s just how we roll right now 🙂
Summer is so lovely (even when the weather has weirdly been raining all week), but also exhausting since there’s so much to do and people to see. Plus, wedding season has been out of control now that we’re playing catch up from last year so it feels like we’re at a wedding or traveling nearly every weekend. Needless to say, we’re all feeling a bit stressed and stretched thin these days – even though aspirationaly you always feel like summer is going to be the time to relax. So today I’m sharing a few ways how to destress this summer with CBD, finding better balance between working and personal life, getting some much needed sleep and more. By applying these small tweaks to my daily routine, it’s made one of the busiest times of the year feel a little less crazy, which I am ALL for!
How to Destress this Summer with CBD, Better Balance and More
Set More Boundaries Personally and Professionally:
I’m not the best when it comes to setting boundaries (I’m very much a “YES” person – which is good most of the time, but not when it comes to taking on too much at work, or not unplugging), so I’ve been working hard this summer to do a better job of setting boundaries to find some better balance in life. That usually means starting work a little later than I normally would so I can workout in the morning, and not checking my email after hours (or anytime later than 8PM). Even though it’s a small shift of changing my working hours a bit, it’s made a big difference in both my mental health and my productivity at work!
Carve Out More Time To Decompress:
For my time outside of work, I’ve also been trying to purposefully carve aside some time to decompress in my work week – and my weekend too. It’s so easy to get swept up in trying to do something after work every. single. day. – but the truth is that for someone who is secretly introverted like me, it’s easy to get even more exhausted and drained spending time with so many people.
I’ve been trying to limit my social engagements each week and have at least 2 or 3 nights to myself at home to work on personal projects, get my condo in order, or just spend time with Milo and Ray watching crappy TV on the couch (truly, there’s nothing better sometimes!). It makes me both less stressed and more present when I am with friends on other nights – and this little change has made a big difference in my stress level too!
Stock Up On My Favorite CBD:
I’ve been a big fan of CBD since I tried it in 2019, so much so that I’ve been using it pretty consistently since then. Equilibria is my favorite for many reasons – not only because it was created by a badass female founder from Chicago, but also because it is the only CBD that I’ve tried that actually works in calming my nerves.
I use it at night to help me sleep (with my tried and true Melatonin!) and also as an everyday supplement for my anxiety and stress from work. While it’s not magically going to cure you of your anxiety (I also have gone to therapy and have taken medication for that :)), it does help calm me down on busy days, and help with my mind from racing when I’m feeling super overwhelmed. Plus it makes me less irritable at work too, which I’m sure my co-workers can appreciate 😉
Equilibria is having their biggest sale of the year right now (up until the 4th of July) where you can get 20% off! You can use code CHARMINGLYSTYLED for 15% off (which you can stack if you’re a new customer too!)
Change Up My Social Routine:
Usually when my friends and girlfriends get together we usually try to go out to get dinner or drinks, especially when it’s nice outside. I’ve been trying to switch up my morning routine a bit more and doing more workout classes with friends – so it’s not only a healthier habit, but also makes everyone feel good afterwords (less hangovers!). I’ll usually try to get a smoothie or a healthy dinner afterwards too, which gives us time to catch up while feeling way more productive in the process. I’ve actually seen people more often now by inviting them to workout classes than I usually have in the past (so it’s a win-win in my book!)
Since it’s been nice outside, we’ve also been trying to host more people on the patio on the weekends too. It’s a little cheaper to do a BBQ and have everyone BYOB than doing a fancy meal out, and it’s way more fun to get more people in the mix by inviting them over. It’s never anything fancy, but that’s the way we like it – plus, less stress!
SLEEP:
Never underestimate the amazing power of sleep – especially during times when you’re feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. Some of the best advice my mother ever gave me was that “everything is always better in the morning” and that always helps me calm down (and makes me prioritize much needed sleep!). There’s nothing I love more than than sleeping in on a weekend – and I’ve been trying my best to go to bed a little earlier these days and get 8-10 hours of sleep whenever I can. If I could sleep 12 hours a night I totally would, but you know – life and work duties call!
Have any other destressing tips for summer? Please let me know! I’m always looking for ways to help my anxiety and clear my calendar to make the busy months feel a little more manageable <3
