Chicago’s known for a lot of things – deep dish pizza, the magnificent mile, being one of the best restaurant cities in the country – but it’s also one of my favorite cities for our amazing coffee scene. The coffee here is no joke, and I’ve spent many weekends exploring neighborhood after neighborhood on the hunt for the perfect cup of coffee (or in my case, latte!)
Every few months I find a new “favorite” spot that I tell all my friends to try out – and honestly, they’re probably pretty annoyed with my constant additions to my growing list. So, to have all my favorites in one place – I’ve updated my epically long (but hopefully informative?) list of my favorite coffee shops in Chicago. Hopefully some of you who live in Chicago happen to love coffee as much as I do, or if you’re a coffee lover coming to visit the city you’ll appreciate my epic list below!
The Loop:
A chicago classic. I’m a huge fan of their lattes (as I always am, anywhere), but they’re known for having the best drip coffee in the city. If you haven’t made it to an Intelligencia yet, it’s worth checking out.
There are a few Dollop coffees scattered around town, but my favorite is the one on Dearborn downtown. It has the most beautiful space, and their lattes and coffee are some of my favorite in the city.
South Loop:
Organic coffee, delicious treats, and all profits benefit charity. The perfect cup of coffee you can feel good about drinking.
River North:
One of my favorite restaurants with one of the best coffee bars. I am a huge fan of their honey cinnamon lattes for early morning meetings.
West Loop:
When I used to work in the West Loop, Sawada was my go-to coffee spot for a STRONG latte in the morning. They’re known for their Military Latte (made with matcha and expresso), as well as always having a healthy amount of donut vault donuts to munch on.
Little goat is another favorite spot in the city, not just for their delicious dinner and brunch, but also because their coffee bar is ridiculously good. I always go for a latte, but the coffee and treats are top notch too!
You’ve seen it a million times on Instagram, but it’s not only just a beautiful space – it’s also known for delicious food, coffee and cocktails (the trifecta of all good things, right?)
Lincoln Park:
A Lincoln Park classic, and the perfect patio in the spring and summer – and the drinks are delicious! The perfect place to snap pretty Instagrams too.Printer’s Row Coffee:
One of my new favorite coffee shops in the neighborhood – they have a delicious menu of coffee drinks (with oat milk options too!), and treats. It’s the perfect place for getting work done in the afternoon or meeting with friends over a cup of coffee.
A common meeting place with my friend Tomissa, I love the vibe, amazing baristas and delicious drinks & bakery treats.
Floriole
Right around the corner from me, and the perfect meeting place for business or pleasure. The coffee is amazing, and the desserts are absolutely divine.
The perfect place to grab coffee before a morning at the farmer’s market, this quaint coffee shop is filled with adorable decor and the best coffee.
Half bike shop, half coffee shop. This place is my favorite in the neighborhood, and the environment makes it even better.
Lakeview:
Another favorite spot in Chicago, the coffee is no frills, but made with care. I come here on days where I want to read a magazine and enjoy the view.
Wicker Park:
Known as one of the best coffee shops in Chicago, it’s expanded to many more neighborhoods in the past few years. If you happen to love lattes, get one of theirs on draft!
Serving up local coffee, and the most eclectic decor (think video games, movies and TV shows of the 80’s and 90’s) – this place is not only delicious, but always a blast on a date or afternoon with friends.
A gorgeous place to spend the afternoon, Lovely bakery is chock full of the tastiest treats, large caramel lattes and the nicest baristas in the city.
Bucktown:
Located right off the 606, Ipsento has become one of my go-to coffee shops when spending the weekend in Bucktown. During the day they offer coffee, tea, sweets and mini donuts, and then at night they become a cute wine and craft beer bar. It’s the perfect relaxing environment to get stuff done, and the coffee is always delicious.
A newer coffee shop to the neighborhood, Fairgrounds coffee and tea has amazing beverages and tasty brunch/lunch. I’d go for the avocado toast and a matcha latte.
Edgewater:
Awarded the best coffee in Chicago many years in a row, a few of my favorite shops in the city serve up big ‘ole cups of Metropolis coffee. This is a great spot to spend the day studying or working while keeping caffeinated.
Andersonville:
An expresso based bar, this spot is known as one of the hottest shops in Chicago, and also one of the prettiest. Take a gander on their site!
Logan Square:
A new coffee shop to Chicago (but one of my favorites from Wisconsin), their new location in Logan Square is the perfect spot to spend a few hours having a lazy weekend afternoon reading, working, or taking a little extra time to sip on a latte.
Pilsen:
A tasty place for breakfast and specialty lattes. I’ve also heard magical things about their Mexican Hot Chocolate.
Rodgers Park:
A hot spot for specialty drinks, the “Summer Thyme Chi” and “The Q” look right up my alley!
Alright, I could go on and on…but I hope you have a new place (or two) you’re tempted to test out! Any favorites that I accidentally left off the list? Please let me know – I’ll keep updating this post so it can continue to be a resource when you’re searching for a new coffee shop! xx
What a great list Maya! Makes me realize how few coffee shops I’ve visited so far in the city.
