Making the perfect tea latte

Mornings, they’re the worst. I always told myself that one day I would become a morning person, because morning people are the people who seem like they’ve really figured it out.

I have a friend who wakes up at 6AM every morning and runs 5-10 miles with her husband, and another who wakes up that early and writes complete {and completely legible} blog posts at the crack of dawn. And then there’s me, who can barely get her booty out of bed at 8:15 to get ready and make it to the office a little before 9:30. There are mornings I try to wake up early, but I find myself hitting snooze 5 times and still roll out of bed with barely enough time to make it to work at a descent hour. Mornings have always been a struggle, and even though I’m officially “an adult” I can’t quite say I’ve conquered my inability to wake up at a reasonable time – whoops!

And while I still struggle, the only thing that I’ve discovered to make mornings a little easier is a cup of tea to give me a swift kick in the pants. I’ve been easing up on my coffee intake and trying to swap out tea as another caffeinated alternative. My friend {and morning person} Lauren introduced me to Teaspressa and it’s become the perfect way to reduce my coffee intake and replace it with delicious, artisan coffee-inspired tea. I know you’re probably sitting behind your screen thinking “Okay crazy, what the heck is coffee inspired tea”, but really – it’s a thing!

Like making a shot of expresso, you can brew Teaspressa tea with a Moka pot or Areopress. It’s basically like a highly concentrated kick in the pants that actually helps you wake up in the morning {aka, this tea isn’t for sissies!}. You can also brew it like a cup of coffee to make a full-bodied, robust cup of tea that’s unlike your typical run-of-the-mill morning tea. Like you’d make a cup of coffee, you can use a French Press or Pour Over method and think of the tea like it’s coffee – dressing it with milk and sugar like you would coffee.  Since I’m used to lattes and the like, I love the “tea shot” method using a Moka pot {which you might have used making a cup of coffee before!}. Basically you fill up the bottom section with water, and then add a few spoonfuls of Teaspressa tea {like coffee} in the little filter above it. All you have to do is put it on the stove-top, let it heat up until you hear the bubbles start to subside and then pour it into your coffee cup.

To give it a latte feel, I always add some steamed milk {with my Aerolatte frother} and a few sugar cubes {like these cute rose pedal ones!}. It makes me feel like I’m drinking a fresh cup of coffee from Starbucks, but without feeling quite as guilty about it 😉 Anyways, this tea latte has totally changed my morning – and even though I’m still not officially a morning person, it’s definitely making weekdays a little less painful 😉 What’s your go-to morning drink you can’t live without? And also, if you’ve figured out how to become a morning person, please share! I need all the tips and tricks I can get – I really have to cut out this 8:15 wake up call thing…. xx
