Late Nights, Long Days.

Leather Jacket {scored from Marshall’s years ago, but love this one for a steal here and here or the real deal here!} // Gingham Tank {similar} // Joe’s Skinny Jeans {on sale!} // Gold Flats {mules and flats} // Kira Purse {similar here and here}

Happy happy Monday, amigos! I can’t believe another weekend has completely flown by – and I’m sitting here, following my normal Sunday tradition of drinking a big glass of white wine, turning on Parenthood {#AdamBraverman4Eva} and getting posts ready for the week ahead. Sometimes I mix a face mask in there to mix things up {craaaazzzzzzy, I know!}, to get my self care Sunday on before another long, extra-busy week.

I’m not going to lie, there are times where it can be pretty tough to manage blogging and a full time job, so I often spend most of my weekend planning photoshoots, taking photos, writing posts and trying to work through all those emails I accidentally forgot about during the workweek {ugh, the worst…so sorry!}. I work as a social strategist at Ogilvy, a big advertising agency in Chicago, and the days can be really long {even though I completely and utterly love my job!}, which makes it hard to always have the motivation to stay up late blogging night after night.

I spend most of my days hopping from meeting to meeting {sometimes actually from 9AM – 5:30 PM straight}, putting together strategy presentations, managing a team of some awesome people, and making sure that our client’s social media and website are in tip-top shape. I work for a few beer brands, which definitely sounds glamorous {it can be at times!}, but overall it’s a lot of work – albeit fun work most of the time. But after a long day it’s hard to get my bootay in gear to get back to the blog grind – which is why I’ve been spending most of my weekends doing it to it in the blogging department {and having a Sunday tradition of getting my blogging life together!}. Overall, I feel pretty lucky to be able to call blogging my part-time job, and I’ve met so many of my best friends through blogging, as well as having some truly amazing opportunities. And I wouldn’t change a thing – but it’s still a challenge attempting to be good at everything all the time. It’s also hard because I admit to trying to show the rosy side of life  on social media and my blog, so just no it’s not aways easy peasy lemon squeezy, which I’m sure everyone can relate to 😉 I’ll try to keep it as real on here as I can, and I’m sending a big hug/high five to all you other badass ladies balancing a blog and work, or a blog and being an awesome mama, or even a few part time jobs! It’s tough work sometimes, but someone’s gotta do it 😉  Now onto other news {!}, I love this comfy casual weekend look that I can finally wear now that it’s spring-ish! I’m a big fan  of mixing feminine looks, like this gingham t-shirt I bought last year, with a more edgy leather jacket. I scored this Rebecca Minkoff jacket for just $75 last year {seriously the BEST find!} and I love how the two different styles work so well together. Paired with a simple pair of dark denim jeans and my favorite gold flats, it’s the perfect look for weekend errands or transitioning from work to drinks or dinner with friends. And best of all, it’s comfy! I always pick a pair of jeans over a skirt or a dress anyway – and I usually do!I hope you’re all looking forward to an exciting week ahead! I’m planning on attending a few events after work {let’s cross our fingers I don’t fall asleep, haha}, getting together with a few of my favorite girlfriends and prepping for a few big meetings at work! Wishing you a fun and productive week ahead too! xx

    Girlfriend how cute are you?! Love this look, and love the slice of honesty. The hustle can be hard, but also worth it for so many reasons! I hope you have a killer week, and catch a few extra moments of down time 😉 xo!

    I looove this look! That jacket is perfection and I’m getting heart eyes over those gold flats! It sounds like you have a super fun job! I always love to hear what other bloggers do during the regular 9-5 work week. I also work full time doing marketing for a small company. It can be exhausting to work on the weekends when him not feeling creative but for the most part, I enjoy most aspects of blogging and it doesn’t feel like work. Keep up the balancing act, because I really enjoy your blog!

    You look amazing! Loving that cute peplum with your leather jacket, and those jeans fit you like a dream. Blogging and working full time is so hard! I went part time when I had my baby, and now try to manage blogging, baby, and part time. I can never seem to find the right balance.
