*Must be 21 years of age or older to drink alcohol. Please drink responsibly. #7Waysto7UP Sometimes, all you need is a girl’s night in – especially during these chilly winter days when you just can’t bring yourself to meet up at your favorite bar. And as a self-proclaimed home body, I definitely don’t mind spending the night in, chatting with a few of my favorite girlfriends, splitting a big deep dish pizza and some delicious cocktails one of us whips up.
These days, a lot of my friends are expecting {which I couldn’t be happier about, but it definitely changes the usual cocktail/wine nights we typically do!}. To make sure all my friends have a drink in hand. I’ve recently been trying to whip up cocktails that can also be made non-alcoholic too. I wanted to make something sweet and girly a few nights ago when some of my favorite gals came over, and I created this tasty grapefruit fizz, made with 7UP, fresh grapefruit juice, bitters and a splash of my favorite vodka. Since a few of my friends are expecting, I made the same drink without vodka and it tasted just as delicious! It’s quickly becoming my new go-to cocktail and it’s super easy to make – even when you jazz it up a little! I’ve been on a recent 7UP kick, and I love how it’s the perfect refreshing drink on its own, and mixes super well with cocktails and mocktails. I bought a 2 liter at Stop & Shop last time I was home, and after using the whole thing to make these delicious grapefruit fizz cocktails for ladies night, I went right back the store for more. There’s something nostalgic about sipping a glass of 7UP, and the fact that it’s a key ingredient in a few of my favorite cocktails is definitely a bonus 😉 You can also purchase 7UP at Giant Landover and Giant Carlisle. Another special ingredient that makes this cocktail super wow-worthy is the rose petal ice cubes, which adds a little girly touch that’s perfect for ladies night! After some trial and error {one would think that it would be easy to make rose petal ice cubes, haha}, I fill ice cubes half way up and freeze, place rose petals on the top and then add the top layer of water to freeze to make sure the rose petals stay in the middle of the cube. They’re so pretty and extra easy to make once you know the secret to making the rose petals stay! So if you’re planning an upcoming night with the gals, you have to give this cocktail a try! Here’s the mocktail and cocktail recipe below so all your girlfriends can have a drink in hand!
Ginger Fizz Cocktail Recipe:
• In a cocktail shaker with ice, mix 1 1/2 ounces of your favorite vodka, a few dashes of bitters and an ounce or so of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Mix together and strain into your cocktail glass with your rose petal ice cubes
• Top with 7UP, stir with a cocktail stick. Add a slice of grapefruit to garnish and then enjoy!
To make the mocktail version, just nix the vodka – but make sure to keep the bitters in to give your drink even more depth and the perfect sour kick! Either version is the perfect balance of sweet, a little sour from the bitters, and a whole lot of bubbly that makes the drink easy to sip and enjoy!If you’re planning on whipping up this delicious drink in the next few weeks, make sure to check out an exclusive coupon in Savory Magazine in the “New Flavors” edition until 3/30. You can save $1.00 when you buy two 7UP 2-Liter bottles {which I will definitely be doing!}
Have any other cocktails that are perfect for girl’s night? I’d love to know! I’m always looking to add a few more girly cocktail recipes to the mix! xx
Yum! This looks so refreshing! I love the grapefruit. I always tend to reach for the wine, but I think I need to learn some more cocktail recipes.
This looks delicious! Next lady date, can I bribe you to make this for me? 😉
Isn’t That Charming.
Oh my goodness! This looks amazing 🙂
