TGIF, friends! I’m extra excited for this Friday because I’m relaxing in Captiva Island, Florida all weekend long! I left the freeze of Chicago on Wednesday after work, and since then I’ve been working from the comfort of the beach, enjoying boozy happy hours with my family and soaking up the sun with Tom. I completely understand why some Midwesterners spend the winter in Florida, and while I love a good snowy holiday season, I’m definitely over winter weather come January 2nd.

I read last weekend that Chicago has only seen 5 days with sun in the past month, and the grey days make it a little harder to be optimistic this time of year. I’ve definitely noticed that I’ve been in a funk the last few weeks, and I’ve been feeling more uncreative and uninspired than i have in the past. I’m 99% sure it’s the grey outside that’s making me feel a little bluer than usual, which makes sense since grey isn’t exactly conducive to bright ideas and productivity 😉 Hopefully a little sunshine will do me some good and make me feel refreshed for the next few cold months. Speaking of cold, I’ve been trying to ward off the chillier weather with more choiceful layers to my wardrobe – including this Club Monaco vest I scooped up a few weeks ago during one of their biggest sales of the season. I have a bizarrely weird love of vests {especially cozy grey ones}, so when I saw this while stopping in the neighborhood, I knew I had to add it to my winter wardrobe. It’s perfect to layer with a t-shirt or turtleneck, and actually keeps me warm while working in the office or in my drafty apartment. Plus, it adds a whole other layer of warmth underneath my winter jacket when it feels like it’s negative 20 degrees outside. Why do I live in the Midwest again?! Thank goodness for mini-vacations for Florida to make up for this crazy chilly weather!  I’m going to make this post short and sweet so I can spend a little more time at the beach, and a lot less time behind my computer 😉 Follow along for some sunny snaps on Instagram, otherwise I’ll catch you on Monday!
