Happy happy Monday, friends! While I’m still in Patagonia for the next few days, I wanted to share a cozy look I’ve been loving now that it’s gotten quite a bit chillier back in the Midwest. I know they kept saying that this was going to be a cold winter, and for a few months I didn’t totally believe them – but now that the temps have been quickly dropping I’m mentally preparing for snowmaggedon 2016. To prepare for the crazy cold, I’ve been picking out cozy pieces like scarves, capes, too many turtleneck sweaters to count, and anything else that’s long sleeved and comfy. And if I can find something that’s basically a giant blanket, I tend to buy it on the spot, like this patterned cape I scored at Gordman’s a few weeks back!
While initially shopping for holiday decor and gifts to donate while I was back home in Madison a few weeks ago, I stumbled across this super cozy cape that I knew had to come home with me {especially with the $20 price tag – score!}. It’s seriously the coziest cape I have in my closet, and it’s long enough to pair with skinny jeans or leggings for a laid back day in the office. It’s basically wearing a blanket and I couldn’t be happier about it 😉 Paired with this pretty tassel necklace and festive pom-pom I also scored on my latest Gordman’s shopping trip, I’m perfectly accessorized to stay warm {and actually chic!} all winter long. My weekend in Madison was pretty tame as far as weekends go – and included a crazy Saturday night at a bat mitzvah full of cute kids I used to babysit {how cool am I?!}. But it was actually kinda awesome chatting with awesome East Side Madison families, eating an obscene amount of cheese and crackers and drinking a few glasses of wine. Pretty much the premise of an awesome Saturday night if you ask me!
Going home is always the breath of fresh air that I need, and sometimes laying low with your parents is the perfect way to find your balance again, especially when life is a little crazy. Madison is always the perfect escape for me and having a three day weekend back home was just what the doctor ordered. Plus, my adorable mom even snapped a few of these photos for me at one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants, Madison Sourdough, which is one of my favorite spots for breakfast and coffee on the weekends. Of course I ran into a friend from high school mid-photo shoot and had to awkwardly explain myself…taking blog photos in public will never be something I’ll ever actually comfortable with 😉 In other news, I’m excited to share some of our trip to South America with you in a few days! Today Tom and I are in Buenos Aires exploring the city before I head back to Chicago in a few days. I’m so excited to share our adventures and help you go on a little virtual vacation of your own! See you in a few days! xx
