Happen to have any insecurities? Please, join the club 😉
I know, sometimes we pretend that our lives are pretty perfect, full of picturesque photos edited with those crazy apps that fix all your wrinkles and make you look 5 years younger {I know, they’re amazing – right?!} but let’s be real – we all really have a mini laundry list of insecurities that in a perfect world we’d all live without.
And to get totally honest and real {since I want to keep doing a little more of that on this little blog!} one of my biggest insecurities is definitely the pesky under-eye circles that have made a home for themselves on my face over the last few years. And by few, I mean the 4th grade – because those jerks decided to grace me with their presence a little early on in my lifetime. And when you have under eye circles at such a young age – you literally try everything possible to get rid of them. I quickly learned the magic of a good concealer, the fact that cold spoons don’t do anything for me, and that the best way to avoid making under-eye bags even worse is finding a magic cream and use it every day. Oh, and sleep – you should probably get as much sleep as possible to look like the bright-eyed bushy tailed version of yourself you’ve always wanted to be!
Here are a few more of my go-to tips for kicking those pesky under-eye circles to the curb:
Go all natural:
More natural routes that have also helped is increasing the amount of water I try to drink in a day, and I upped my usual 3 glasses to over 8 to keep my skin vibrant and clear {it’s also done wonders to my pesky adult acne that I could never seem to get rid of! I’ve also heard that people swear by using tea bags or frozen spoons early in the morning, but as someone with hereditary dark circles, they don’t do too much for me in the brightening department. But hey, it’s always worth a try, right?
Find the right cream – and stick to it!:
In the “magical creams” department, I’ve been really loving a few all natural brands that use all-natural ingredients to pack a serious under-eye bag punch {without it looking like you got punched in the face!}. From serums to gels to eye masks, I’m pretty sure I’ve literally tried it all to see if anything would make my circles a little better.
I recently tried OZnaturals’ Matrix 6 Mega Bright Eye Gel, and I’m a huge fan that it’s made with ingredients like caffeine and apple stem cells to activate tired eyes in the morning, giving my skin a much needed boost! As with all good eye creams, I use this one morning and night, dabbing it after I was my face at night, or apply makeup in the morning. After only using it for a few weeks, I’ve seen it tighten and brighten up my under-eye circles, which clearly makes me do a little happy dance to celebrate! The fact that’s also cruelty free gives me a double reason to celebrate too!
Discover the concealer for you:
Other things I swear by? Finding a good concealer! Again, I’ve tried quite a few – from drugstore favorites to pricer brands – and my favorite by far has been Tarte’s Colored Clay CC Under-eye cream that works like a charm in covering up seriously dark circles. Finding this guy was seriously a lifesaver – and I wear it all day everyday, no matter what! I also started to try out their waterproof 12 hour concealer and I’m also a huge fan – it’s a must after giving yourself some OZnaturals’ Matrix 6 Mega Bright Eye Gel TLC.
When it doubt – sleep it out:
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – there’s nothing better for under-eye circles than a good nights sleep! Even though it can be hard, days where I get 8+ hours of sleep always make me look a million times better in the dark circles department {there’s a reason why you sometimes find that you look better on the weekends…if you haven’t been super crazy the night before!}. While it’s definitely tough to squeeze in extra zzzz’s, definitely make a point to go to bed earlier whenever you can – your body will be happy you did in many more ways than one!
Have any other tips? I’d love to know! Please share with the class 😉 xx
