Alright friends, I’m going to level with you and be totally honest – I’ve been totally in a rut the last few weeks. Okay, I already lied the first sentence in – I’ve been in a rut for the last few months. And you know what, being in a rut totally sucks.
My rut has been a mixture of a few different things – work being beyond crazy, taking on a bunch of freelance projects and feeling a little burned out, and definitely having some serious blogger guilt. I’ve wanted to be a better blogger, and a better blogging friend (specifically commenting and surfing the web to see what everyone’s been up to outside the world of social media), but I haven’t been able to find the time between everything else going on. So, hi! Sorry I’ve been the worst. I hope to catch up with you online (and in real life) soon!
People seem to think that it’s easy to get yourself out of a rut, but I tend to disagree. There are so many things you have to keep on trucking with, whether it’s work, love, life, etc. And sure, you can go on a trip to get a new perspective (which definitely did help for a few weeks!), but this rut is so rutty, that I think it’s going to take something even bigger. And I’ve felt like I’ve been failing at a few things because I’m both in a rut and kinda (read: super) overwhelmed with everything going on – even if it might be exciting, good stuff too. So I’m going to try to take the next few weeks to get un-rutted, figure out what needs to give, and try to make some seriously life choices to be a little kinder to myself. And, since I’m a pretty open book – I promise to let you know what I figured out along the way 😉But hey, I shouldn’t be a total debbie downer, there have been a few good things I’ve done to get myself out of my current rut. Like breaking my fashion routine with some unexpected pieces that I used to stay far, far away – like this Zara cape. Last year, I would have never ventured to Cape land, but it’s become a new staple that I’ve found myself wearing again and again…and again. And there’s definitely something empowering about breaking out of your style routine that makes you feel like you can take on the world, even if you are in rut elsewhere. Getting a little goofy can also help you get a little out of a rut too….Anyone else in a rut out there? Have any tips? I could use a little inspiration right about now. xx
Right there with ya, sister. I can’t pinpoint what it is, but I’ve been feeling really rutty too..boo! Here’s to getting out of our funks!
And I must say, that cape suits you so well 🙂
