taking a moment to stay creative.

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and PEOPLE StyleWatch® and Real Simple® Magazines but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #BacktoMeTime http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV9Like most gals, I’m a big fan of magazines, even in the digital age. There’s something magical about holding those glossy pages in your hands, where you can sift through the latest trends, decor inspirations, beauty tips and tricks and the life we all aspire to create for ourselves. There’s also something that ignites a little creative spark as you flip through the pages that you can’t quite capture on Pinterest. I remember growing up and pulling out pages of magazines that I loved and filling my walls with the things that inspired me {including pictures of Jonathan Taylor Thomas, obviously…} Having it all in front of you can bring your inner creativity to life, and still to this day I am constantly pulling together mood boards and inspiration from the glossy pages of my favorite magazines. 13Magazines are also the perfect way to escape your day, especially with the busy days of summer coming to an end. While I love to read novels whenever I get a few hours {which usually means vacation!}, sometimes I just need a visual getaway for a few minutes that only magazines can provide. I love digging into the newest issue of InStyle, People’s Style Watch and Real Simple to get my inspiration fix, even when I’m sitting on the train to work, or just needing a few precious moments to decompress. And somehow , flipping through the pages manages to get my mind out of the hustle and bustle of the everyday, enough to actually make my tightly wound self a moment to relax 😉 It’s the little things that make your day so beautiful, and taking a few moments to myself helps me realize that life is good when you stop to enjoy it.8People Style Watch-1-3So, what do I do with all these magazines once I’ve totally devoured them? Like my 16 year old self, I still find inspiration from the pages and pop them together in an inspiration board whenever the mood strikes. Sometimes when I need ideas for my blog, or even some inspiration around what to wear, I’ll rip out some pages and put together more concretely what colors, trends, patterns and photography I’m loving for the season. It helps me visualize the things I’ve been gravitating towards, but may not even realize what that might actually be. And I always make sure I keep a notepad by me as I go through my favorite articles and ads, so I can keep track of all the best ideas I dream up for my blog as I go along!

One of the biggest trends I learned from this months PEOPLE StyleWatch® and my homemade mood board? The 70’s are back, baby! I was inspired by the gorgeous photo of GiGi Hadid on the cover and took a few of my own favorite 70’s-esque pieces from my closet to keep with the season. I think I pretty much look just like Gigi, right? 😉1If you are looking for a little inspiration, make sure to pick up the latest issues of PEOPLE®, InStyle®, People StyleWatch®, Real Simple®, and Sunset® with $1 off! Check it out this digital offer until 10/18/15 while supplies last. I shopped at Jewel-Osco, but it’s also available at Safeway and Albertson’s too!
