Life lately has been equal parts amazing to equal parts absolutely nuts. I’ve been equating myself to the energizer bunny these days, and while life is pretty good all around I’ve still been trying to keep going while keeping my head above water. I’m sure you know the feeling, right? I’m sending good vibes, comforting hugs and big high fives your way – because you probably need a few of all those right now!
So let’s get back to the brass tacks – here’s a few moments from my highlights reel from last month. I had the most magical end of summer soiree at Carriage House for an incredible Happy Hour a few weeks back with my friend Evalyn, Mitch and Kelly from Kelly in the City, and Katherine from Paytington & Co. Besides being my first time there, it was also my first southern style boil and oh my god was it good. I don’t usually go for seconds, but I made trips for thirds and fourths to eat waaaaay too much shrimp, corn, potatoes and mussels. Needless to say, I’ll be back before the warm weather is over so I can enjoy their beautiful patio and ridiculously delicious cocktails – and yes, I had a few 😉 On a totally different note, I had an amazing time modeling and photographing an end of summer hair tutorial with April of Blohaute a few weeks back with Kit of The Kittchen and Katie of Little Black Blog. While I don’t usually get my hair done, it was so fun to play a little dress up and rock a few braids on my lazy Sunday afternoon. Swing by Wandeleur to see the full story, and to read more about their founder Amanda on how she became an entrepreneurial powerhouse in Chicago! Another highlight was getting my staycation on at the Dana Hotel a few weeks back! I’ve been go, go, go at work, with freelance projects, the blog and Wandeleur, so I’ve been trying to take as much time for myself as possible. While sometimes it’s hard to carve away time for R&R, taking a staycation allows your to not spend too much time traveling while still getting your R&R on! I spent the afternoon getting the most amazing hot stone massage, tasting Freestyle Food & Drink, and sipping on a margarita at the Vertigo Sky lounge. It was the perfect way to close out the week, while giving myself some well deserved time off. If you’re looking to relax, definitely try a staycation in your home town. And of course what round up isn’t complete without a few favorite Instagram snaps? I enjoyed an amazing media dinner at Son of a Butcher Tavern {that name though!} which just opened up in the heart of Logan Square. The food was delicious, the drinks we’re divine, and the decor alone is worth a trip – and an Instagram. I also swung by Kate Spade to visit the HerCampus team and take in the colorful views…and the bags. And who doesn’t love a snap of the skyline? Chicago is still the best city in the midwest to me <3
Lots of yum in here!!
Girlfriend, I don’t know how you do it all! I’ve not done a great job of keeping my head (read: blog, freelance projects, etc.) above water this summer, but I think things are finally coming around and I’m getting a fresh wind. At least I hope! I love your pretty pics, as usual 🙂 Hope your week has been great!
