Zoe’s back this week to share her favorite winter activities to beat the winter blues {which are pretty darn real right now, right?} How many of these have you checked off your list so far this season?

I don’t know about you, but I am definitely feeling this season of snow right now. Yes, its a bit cold and blustery outside but my Midwestern self is pretty much used to this three month session of all you can stand cold weather, and I’m feeling completely ready for the next few months ahead. Whether or not this weather is your personal favorite, I think its definitely important to take advantage of everything winter hands us. So, that being said, I put together a list of some of activities to keep us all busy having fun while we hibernate!
-
De-clutter: So, if you find yourself confined to your home due to weather conditions, take advantage by going through your belongings (clothes, paperwork, that junk drawer…) and de-clutter your life. Donate or recycle whatever you don’t want or need, and you’ll be helping out others too!
-
Host a film festival: There’s really nothing better than a good group of friends, some wonderful food and some inspiring movies, so why not put it all together and have a movie night.. ahem ahem.. film festival!
-
Bring out your inner winter athlete: Chances are, at some point this winter, you’ll find yourself surrounded by some fresh powder…(especially if you’re in the upper midwest like me!) So go ahead, go cross country skiing, or skating, or even just hiking in the local park. Its fun, healthy, and bonus – you can get some hot cocoa when you’re done
-
Have a spa day: Sometimes the winter weather along with the daily stress of life take a toll on your body, mind, and spirit. Take some time to relax, maybe have a bubble bath, get a facial, schedule that message. You deserve it.
-
Become a bookworm: Okay, so maybe a bit cliche, but in all seriousness, this is the perfect time to start reading! Whether its an autobiography, a great work of fiction, or even just the latest issue of your local newspaper. Take some time to relax, maybe sip some tea and let your mind wander along with the words on the page.
-
Start an indoor garden: I think we all need a little green during these cold months when everything else is so…well, not green. So, go to the store, get some pots, teacups or jars that spark your imagination and plant some herbs, flowers, or anything else that starts from a seed or bulb and use that green thumb.
-
Nurture your friendships: What better time to pick up the phone and call that friend or family member you’ve been meaning to reach out to, but somehow never found the time, or remembered. You’ll be glad you did.
-
Become a foodie: Check out your local restaurants, pubs, and lounges. What better way to support your local businesses and try some new drinks and cuisine? Plus, think of all those foodie Instagram photos you can post!
-
Conquer that Pinterest project: So truthfully, I wouldn’t say I’m the most “crafty” person in the world, in fact, that word kind of makes me cringe a little… but I would be would be totally lying if I said there was no craft or activity on Pinterest that hasn’t caught my eye… or maybe two, or three…So now is the time, let’s explore the great world of home crafts.
What a fabulous winter bucket list – I definitely should add a few of these things to mine!
I totally need to de-clutter! I'm also loving the spa day idea 🙂

De-cluttering is soooo important. I get the urge to purge closets + dust high shelves + get rid of general crap this time of year, too.
