#realbloggerbeauty

You may be wondering why I have a very cryptic graphic {and probably confusing} graphic above. So, please let me explain, as long windedly as possible πŸ˜‰
It all started with a question from my lovely mother at the Madison Fashion Panel event I participated in last winter. My mother, the master of tough questions, asked the the panel, “Now that you have readers in your communities, how would you use your influence to do something good that supports a cause of charity that’s important to you?” Immediately I was proud of her for asking such a killer question, and then I had a moment of thinking, “wait, what would I do?” After a few seconds of frantically wracking my brain I came up with a half decent response, sharing that I would want to do something opposing the perfectionism that bloggers {and everyone really} is always striving to achieve by sharing personal & perfectly imperfect experiences we all have with one another.

I’ve struggled since I was a kid with the idea of being “perfect” {and looking the part most of all}, and it’s something I don’t talk about enough. Everyone has something they’re passionate about, scared to talk about, etc – and as a blogger, I think it’s important we take the time to share something real and beautifully imperfect about ourselves, which is how #RealBloggerBeauty was born.

No one’s lives are always full of “Instagram-worthy” moments, and it’s time to embrace the messes, insecurities, and struggles of life together! On June 16th, a few of my favorite bloggers {and anyone else for that matter!} are joining forces to take a break from the usual strive for perfection to share an issue, struggle or charity that means something to them. So we can all read up & support one another, I’ll be hosting a link-up on Charmingly Styled to make everyone’s stories easily accessible. I’m planning on sharing my own journey of struggling with Body Dysmorphic Disorder in high school and college to becoming a fashion blogger {quite the transformation!}, and how I still struggle with perfectionism everyday. Plus, there may be some bonus never before seen pictures of me back in high school, which will be hilarious to say the least πŸ˜‰

I would love you {yes you!} to join the action! All you have to do is share a story on June 16th, link-up, and leave a few love notes of support while you’re at it too. Share the love using #RealBloggerBeauty on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter to see what everyone else is up to too! If you have any questions or need more info, please drop me a line at charminglystyled@gmail.com and we can chat about anything and everything.

Thank you to everyone who’s already joined the party and supported this little project of mine! I’m so excited to read everyone’s stories in a few short weeks! xx

I can't wait to read everyone's stories! It always feels so great when you get things off your chest and are able to strip down to the core of who you are, without all of the fluff. Thank you so much for putting this all together, you're amazing!

I LOVE this idea!! Although I have only been blogging since October, it's something I continue to struggle with; trying to perceive that all is "perfect". Although my super messy apartment (you can't see my floor, I have clothes every where), the fact that I hate 8-6 job, and that I have old, molding food in my fridge aren't super huge issues, they are things that I hide from my readers. No one is perfect and I shall embrace the fact that I may or may not have worn the pants I'm wearing to work today three times over the long weekend. #RealBloggerBeauty

I love this! I have always struggled with perfectionism and occasionally blogging fuels this fire since I tend to compare myself to others. I'm a work in process, but remembering that social media is only part of the story tends to keep me in check. I'll definitely be joining in to elaborate!!!

i really love this idea! i struggle with perfectionism as well (always have, since i was young) and it's tough to see all of the bloggers who have "made it" and don't seem like real people at all. it can be a bit discouraging, and i am all about being genuine, so i am marking it on my calendar so i can participate too!! πŸ™‚ thanks for such great inspiration!

I think I definitely need to participate, I have touched on the subject on my blog, but it goes so much deeper than that. I struggle with it every day, I struggle to not put myself down or let it affect those around me! Thanks for doing this Maya!
