something borrowed.

Remember the agony of naming your blog?
It seems like yesterday I was sitting on my couch in Appleton, Wisconsin angrily attempting to find a name that wasn’t already claimed in the blogosphere. All I knew is that I wanted to have “charming” in the name as a homage to my quick wit,  hilarious & always fashionable grandmother, Jessie. “Charming” was her catchphrase, and I can’t hear the word without thinking of her.  If you said something to make her laugh, hid a pair of aces under the table, or managed to drop a stack of dinner plates – she could always find the charming part of any situation. Try as I may, I don’t always manage to achieve that – but it’s nice to have her memory as a source of inspiration.
Many of my favorite things in my closet come from my grandmother – this vintage Gucci purse & gorgeous cameo ring, and a few of her favorite silk scarves from her impressive collection to name a few. But besides her refined taste in fashion, she passed on a few other things I’m even more thankful for –  a sense of humor in {almost} any situation, an infectious laugh and a recipe for her world famous soup I can’t live without. I still miss her lively, vivacious spirit, but I feel lucky to have a few things to remember her by {as well as a blog name that I happened to borrow from her}.

Aren't Grandmothers just so special? I loved hearing about how your blog name reflects yours–and of course, you look gorgeous here!

And I thought you couldn't get more adorable. Also I think I'm being just weird but I am so emotional reading this post and want to cry for you. Don't even ask why.

Awwww she sounds amazing! And I love that you named her blog based off of her catch phrase/word πŸ™‚ I cherish all the pieces my grandmother passed down to me and wear them with so much pride!

    P.S. You are GORGEOUS lady!

Your grandmother would be so proud of you. You were such a kooky, fun-loving and a little impulsive, little kid. She
would be astonished at how you turned out!
