A Whirlwind Trip to DC

I went to DC and all I got were these pictures! But in all seriousness, it was a fun, whirlwind 3 days and my attempts to come up with a super kick-ass blog post about DC didn’t quite come to fruition. Instead I tried my best to unplug*, get really into vacation mode and enjoy myself over the long holiday weekend. Most of it was pretty successful, and I even managed to leave my big ass camera in my hotel room more of the time!

{*Oh, I didn’t do such a good job at unplugging – but I’m definitely giving myself an “A for effort” for trying.}

DC was pretty awesome though – and it’s still crazy to bike around the city and be like, “Oh hey! There’s the White House!” and be in total and complete awe of it. I joked around by yelling, “OH MY GOD. THAT’S THE HOUSE FROM SCANDAL.” and did not get any laughs from the tourists all around me. And I did not see Obama – obviously a huge disappointment. I figured he and Joe would be bro-ing out on the font lawn while playing with Bo the White House dog. Turns out even politicians have to work on labor day weekend, especially presidents. Still – it was a pretty fun trip. Charmingly-Styled-Green-Dress (11 of 13)Charmingly-Styled-Green-Dress (8 of 13)Before our last night in DC, I made Tom take a few photos of me – which he was mostly not pleased with. And I get it, taking photos of your girlfriend who’s walking around DC looking for a white wall is really not that fun, especially when you’re probably afraid you’re going to run into someone you know and have to explain to them that your girlfriend wasn’t taking senior photos {even though maybe the above kinda looks like it…}  but that she dabbles in blogging because that’s kinda a thing…?

For any of you bloggers out there with a boyfriend who takes photos from you from time to time, you feel my pain – and feel kinda sorta terrible for subjecting anyone to this kinda torture. BUT look how good these photos are??? Not to shabby for a disgruntled boyfriend who would much rather be at dinner than taking your photos in front of a bunch of strangers 🙂 Thanks Tom, you’re a trooper. Charmingly-Styled-Green-Dress (10 of 13)Charmingly-Styled-Green-Dress (5 of 13)Charmingly-Styled-Green-Dress (9 of 13)Besides torturing my boyfriend – the rest of the trip was really pretty nice. We spent a night at the Kimpton Mason and Hook hotel and took full advantage of our last day of summer by hanging poolside and soaking up the last warm day of summer. We ate way too much delicious food, walked around Georgetown, had a drink at POV in downtown DC {with quite a view of the city!} and biked around to enjoy the monuments from afar. Oh – and we also ate the best peaches OF OUR LIVES at the DC farmers market. I know, that’s kinda a weird thing to highlight on an epic vacation – but these peaches were seriously life changing. Get thee to a farmers market and buy all the peaches, believe me – you won’t regret it. Charmingly-Styled-Green-Dress (6 of 13)Charmingly-Styled-Green-Dress (12 of 13)So now that I’ve checked DC off my list, I’m ready for another vacation ASAP. Who else is with me on needing a little time off too? I think margaritas and a beach are definitely in order 😉 xx
