But truthfully, I don’t think I’ve been a real blonde since about the 9th grade, when I realized my vibrant blonde hues were turning a rather unfortunate shade of brown. And by no means an I saying that blondes are better than brunettes – but there’s something odd about looking in the mirror and having your hair look completely different than it did before. Naturally, I decided that I was a blonde at heart so my mother allowed me to start highlighting my hair after a little begging and pleading {as a not so natural blonde herself – she definitely understood my predicament.}John-Frieda-Blonde (1 of 2)10+ years later, I’m still a blonde – but being a blonde has a few setbacks along with it’s perks. For one, my hair grows faster than it used to, so about every 6 weeks I need some serious TLC at Sally’s Salon {okay, truthfully it’s not a real salon – I usually just go home for the weekend and my mother, the magician that she is, highlights my hair with a cap because she’s just that good!} , which can be a little bit of a pain, especially when it’s in the growing out phase. Plus, even though my hair looks vibrant as soon as she’s done highlighting it, the next few weeks go by and my hair becomes duller, faded and less vibrantly blonde. It’s a pain – and my secret to my “naturally” blonde hair starts to become clearer and clearer. It’s a dark time for us all, right? 😉

Thankfully, every other “natural” blonde knows how this struggle goes, so those genius blonde scientists decided to do something about it to save the day! Enter John Frieda Color Care products, which have become my go-to for my vibrant, “natural” blonde hair. I discovered the Sheer Blonde® Go Blonder Lightening Shampoo and Conditioner on my mother’s recommendation {moms, aren’t they the best?} and I’ve been using it non-stop for the last few months to keep my blonde tresses in check. They also recently launched a new Sheer Blonde® Go Blonder In-Shower Lightening Treatment that when used with the shampoo and conditioner softens my dark roots and lightens my hair by a full shade, without damaging my hair like traditional hair color care products. It’s great for anyone with highlights or lowlights {either natural or color treated hair} and does an amazing job renewing my hair’s healthy look and feel.  Clearly, I’m a fan – and these products have been on repeat – especially when I can’t get that natural sun-kist glow from spending a few hours on the beach! My Secret To Naturally Blonde HairSince Target is my go-to {seriously, how do they always manage to have it all?}, I always make sure to swing by and check out their amazing selection of hair care products. I definitely am one of those people who has the intention of walking into Target and spending $10, but I walk out with way more other essentials I didn’t think I needed 😉 Right now there’s a special endcap display at Target with all your John Frieda hair care products through 3/5, and when you buy 3 products you receive a $5 gift card – not too shabby for your typical Target run!John-Frieda-Blonde (1 of 7)blonde enhancing products John-Frieda-Blonde (5 of 7) So, now you know – I’m not a natural blonde, but at least you know my secrets for keeping my color looking vibrant! haha I used to have dirty blonde hair (natural, for real) and now it’s turned into a mousy brown. I really miss my dark blonde hair and sometimes think about going back to it.

Try a purple shampoo! I use Unite Blonda–its deep dark purple and keeps my hair blond but not brassy.
