Since I’m still on the high on the promise of a new year {CAN WE GET A BIG “YAY 2016!” ONE MORE TIME?!}, I can’t help but share a few of my new years resolutions I’m hoping to stick to so that 2016 can be the best year yet. Some of them are realistic-ish, and a few of them I’m pretty sure I’ve had for the last 5 years – but never the less let’s give it a go, right?
#1: Treat ‘yo self a little more: Alright so this is probably the opposite of most people’s New Years resolutions, but one thing I’m hoping to be better about is treating myself a little bit more in 2016. I definitely shouldn’t go out and spend most of my savings on that Gucci cross body bag {it’s important to have goals!}, but Iwas definitely pretty hard on myself when it came to splurging on anything for myself last year. As important as it is to pinch pennies and work your butt off, it’s also important to give yourself a little something something along the way to reap the reward. Here’s to treating yo self a little more this year!
#2: Get your ass to yoga class: Is it just me, or does it take a quarter-life crisis to get your ass to a yoga class? Okay, maybe it’s just me…{fair enough}, but this year I’m hoping to get myself in a yoga groove so I can better deal with everyday stress and any craziness that comes my way.
#3: Say “no” to more things {and quit what I don’t love}: You know that person who has a really hard time saying “no” to people or opportunities? Yeah, I’m definitely that girl {and if you’re a blogger, or overachiever in general, you’re probably right there with me!} Last year I overworked myself more than I realized, which definitely made me a little anxious, a whole lot stressed and not a very happy person a good amount of the time. Being able to take a step back the last few weeks gave me some much needed perspective, and I’m hoping to ditch what I don’t absolutely love in 2016 to make me a healthier, happier person {even if that means a little less blogging on this ‘ole blog!}
#4: Stop biting my nails!!!: Every year I tell myself that THIS will be the year, but every new years I vow to try it again. Here’s to hoping 2016 is the year I quit letting my anxiety out on my poor little nails!
#5: Drink more water – for real this time: To be honest, I always say that I’ll drink more water at the beginning of every year and usually fail in a few short weeks – but I’m hoping 2016 is actually different! To kick my butt in gear, I’m planning to put these tips from my friend Dani to use to get myself more motivated {and to trick myself into drinking water more often!}
#6: Read more {and watch less TV}: To be brutally honest, I can count on one hand the amount of books I read last year {and no, it’s not 5, or 4, or maybe ever 3…oops!} so reading more this year should definitely be doable. Cross your fingers for me…
#7: Have more adventures: Adventure is out there, and I’m hoping to find a little more of it in 2016! I had so many awesome ones last year, and I’m hoping to one up myself again this year. Jimmy epically surprised me for Christmas with an amazing trip for 2016 {more on that as we get closer!}, so 2016 is already off to an incredible start.
#8: Practice photography every week: I love taking photos, and if it was up to me, I’d be taking photos all day everyday if it wasn’t for that whole day job that tends to get in the way 😉 After investing in a beast of a camera last year, I’m hoping to spend least a little a few minutes every weekend practicing my skills.
Alright, so I definitely have my work cut out for me, but I’m hoping to get myself in gear for 2016! Any New Years resolutions you’d like to share? I’m sure I should probably add a few more to my list anyways 😉 xx
I love all of your resolutions for 2016!
I will totally hop on the yoga bandwagon with you!
Let’s go do yoga together! You are my favorite ever, ever and I can’t wait for what 2016 brings to us. Cheers to making it count, my dear! xx

I’m going to treat myself more, too…because Maya told me to 😉 But seriously, these are all so great and totally doable. I can’t wait to see what 2016 holds for you!

YES! Saying no to more was one of mine last year and it was so helpful! It actually helped me say yes to more because I was saying no to things I didn’t love, but I still always said yes to things that were important to the important people in my life! And yes, always yes to more adventures!
I love this, Maya!! And I’m all for photography and treating yourself. 😉 xoxo!!

Water is SO key in my days. I make myself fill up between every meeting I have at work, which gets the job done! 🙂
YAY 2016! This list is tops and I think you’ve set yourself up for a fabulous year. I’m reading more too by making sure the TV is off before bed and winding down with at least 15 minutes of book/magazine/newspaper time. And I “quit” biting my nails but then started to pick at my cuticles. I’ll work on this one with you too. If you come up with strategies lmk! Maybe we can combine Treat Yo Self and No Nail Biting with manicures!!
