The Best Protein Energy Bites

quick-and-easy-protien-bitesIt’s 2016, so it’s time to get down to business! Clearly the theme of this week has been getting my new year’s resolutions together, but every once in awhile we need to indulge a little bit, right?  And a healthy indulgence totally covers off on all your bases, which is why these protein energy bites are just what the doctor ordered.

As I said earlier, I’m trying to get my bootay in gear and start eating healthier in 2016 {you know, along with pretty much everyone else in the world in early January!} While I can swear off a few vices, this girl has to have her chocolate – at least in some tasty form. Enter these “healthy” cookies that are packed with protein, oats, coconut flakes. peanut butter and of course, a healthy dose of mini chocolate chips. Since I’m not one for breakfast, I pop a few of these in my bag for the morning or eat a few after a workout – even though the work out is a little more aspirational at this point than real…important to have goals!  the-best-protien-bites (12 of 12)the-best-protien-bites (4 of 12)So, let’s get to it shall we? Here’s my go-to protein energy bites recipe I can’t live without.

Protein Energy Bites Directions:

What you’ll need:

• 1 cup classic oats

• 1/2 cup peanut butter

• 1/3 cup agave sweetener

• 1 cup coconut flakes

• 1/2 cup chocolate chips

• 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder {I used vanilla creme muscle milk from Meijer!}

So, now what?

Mix all your tasty ingredients together in a bowl {really, it’s just that easy}. Make sure that the agave and peanut butter are evenly distributed throughout your mixture so you can easily shape into balls.  Next, roll into balls with your hands and place in a plastic container for easy storage. I keep mine in the fridge for a week, but we’ll see if yours happen to last that long! the-best-protien-bites (1 of 12)the-best-protien-bites (1 of 1)And voila! Tasty, delicious, protein packed balls of love that you’ll soon not be able to live without! They’re really delicious, and pretty soon you won’t even think about the fact that you’ve given up cookies – because in a lot of ways these are even better 🙂 the-best-protien-bites (6 of 12) So, tell me – how are you planning to keep your New Years resolutions in 2016? It’s hard to not fizzle out after a few months, but I’m planning to stock up on a few of my fitness favorites at Meijer including some of my favorite protein packed products like Muscle Milk and Slim Fast. I’d love to know if you have any healthy eating tips and tricks that I can learn from, because I’m definitely going to need all the help I can get! xxthe-best-protien-bites (10 of 12)
