how to make an acai bowl.

Acai-Bowl
Get up! Make it happen!  blah blah blah. Let’s be honest, mornings suck – like really really suck. 90% of the day I’m a lovely & kind person, but the other 10% of the time consists of morning me who hates getting out of bed, or moving, or not being covered in blankets.
The only thing that kinda gets me in the mood for moving is breakfast, especially when it consists of an Acai bowl. I recently discovered acai bowls in all their majestic glory though Pinterest and now I can’t stop eating them. Lucky for me, Acai has a ton of health benefits, which makes it a no-guilt breakfast everyone can agree on. Dr. Oz shares that Acai is the “beauty berry”, consisting of loads of antioxidants, amino acids & omega fatty acids, which all make you look and feel better since they help to remove free radicals from the body. The best part? Acai’s have been known to help slow down the aging process, so you can say goodbye to those itty bitty wrinkles appearing on your forehead {maybe not, but we can pretend, right?}
Here’s my easy peasy recipe for an acai bowl at home using Sambazon’s acai concentrate. I like to use the unsweetened blend & add in agave later, but I hear other versions are pretty good too.
How to make an Acai Bowl at home:
For the Bowl:
– a strong blender {I use my Vitamix}
– 1 packet Sambazon Acai smoothie pack
– a handful of frozen fruits {I like bananas and blueberries}
– a splash of yogurt or almond milk
Mix everything above together until it’s a thick smoothie consistency {think I jamba juice for reference}. If your fruit is too frozen, it might be hard to blend, so add a splash of yogurt or almond milk to loosen it up.
To top it off:
– fresh berries: blueberries, raspberries & strawberries
– muesli or granola {Seven Sundays is my personal favorite}
– agave syrup to taste
Add your favorite toppings – everything is fair game. I might not recommend sprinkles or chocolate chips, but to each their own 😉
My acai bowls give me a fresh boost of energy to kick start my day, making the morning slightly more bearable. What’s your go to breakfast during the week?
{don’t let my smile fool you, I still hate mornings, even if they taste this good}

    I've seen this whole thing popping up every once in a while but they are always on spam links on websites so I haven't actually tried it. It looks yummy!

    Another good option is Amafruits organic acai smoothie packs. Amafruits doesn't add soy lecithin to their products, so you get a much richer flavor and darker colored acai like you would get in Brazil.
