Two Cocktails Perfect for the Big Game

While it may still be the beginning of January, the big game is coming…and quickly, too. While we are always gearing up for the holidays for weeks before, I tend to pull together my big game celebrations a litttttle at the last minute. But this year, I’m getting it together-ish and prepping a few fun cocktails and drinks for my celebrations come February 3rd. I picked up some [ yellow tail ] Cabernet, [ yellow tail ] Chardonnay, Bud Light, Budweiser, Michelob ULTRA, and SMIRNOFF No. 21 Vodka to get the party started…or at least help me plan for my celebrations early.

While most people are concerned about food for the big game, my biggest concern is always around what we have to drink. Besides making sure the fridge is fully stocked with a few bottles of [ yellow tail ] wine, Bud Light, Budweiser and Michelob ULTRA, I always like to make sure to have some cocktails on hand. This year, I decided to make two different cocktails inspired by the big game. These are perfect (and easy!) to make individually or in a big punch bowl if you’re entertaining a crowd.Paloma Punter

A super easy cocktail for game day, this one is made with [ yellow tail ] Chardonnay for a tasty take on a traditional Paloma. Super simple to make and tastes like happy!

Ingredients:

  • 3 parts [ yellow tail ] Chardonnay
  • Juice ½ grapefruit
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • ½ parts lime juice
  • Sparkling water
  • Salt (for the rim if you’d like, but I prefer mine without!)

Directions:

  • If desired, rim your glass with salt first!
  • Combine the grapefruit juice and lime juice in your cup, and then add 3 oz. of wine and 1 tbsp sugar.
  • Stir until combined so the sugar dissolves
  • Pour over a glass filled with ice, and finish with a lime wedge on the rim and a straw. I also add some smaller slices of grapefruit for color, too!

One of the my favorite parts of drinking wine is finding foods that compliment the taste. Whether your favorite is a traditional cheese or bread board or you are adventurous and like to find new types of food to pair, I’d love to hear! I have found chips and salsa to be a fun, light snack to pair with my [ yellow tail ] Chardonnay. However, if I am popping open my Cabernet, I like to pair it with a heartier snack, such as garlic bread or layered dip.

Here’s another easy cocktail for your guests to craft up that ‘s another favorite – and deliciously fruity for game day!

Raspberry Fizz First Down

This tasty cocktail is super simple to make and is always a hit at parties. You can make individual glasses with the recipe below or mix it all together before the party for a punch that’s easy to have on hand.

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts SMIRNOFF No. 21 Vodka. I love using SMIRNOFF No. 21 Vodka because it’s simple enough to mix that you won’t miss a play, and it’s gluten free and non-GMO!
  • 4 parts Ginger Ale
  • 0.5 parts Simple Syrup
  • 5 Fresh Raspberries

Directions:

  • In your cocktail shaker, muddle about 5 raspberries and add simple syrup.
  • Add SMIRNOFF No. 21 Vodka and ice, and then shake vigorously until mixed
  • Strain out into a cocktail glass with ice (I like mason jars for parties but collins glasses work, too!)
  • Finish with Ginger Ale, and top with fresh raspberries. Enjoy!

And voila! Two super easy cocktails that are perfect for game day. They look pretty beautiful, too! I popped some washi tape on my mason jars to make them a bit more festive for the Big Game, too 😉

And if you’re not super into cocktails, always make sure you’re well stocked with a simple snack and different types of beer to please everyone’s tastes! My go-to beers that never fail are Michelob ULTRA, Budweiser and Bud Light.

Have any fun plans for the big game yet? Whether it’s drinking cocktails with girlfriends, or getting a big group of friends all together, I hope you enjoy however you like to celebrate! xx
