Fall Staples for a Steal

Sweater, boots, necklace from Gordmans // Skinny Jeans // Cuyana Purse

Happy Tuesday! After spending the weekend in New Jersey, I’m easing into the week (a little later than expected), and attempting to get caught up for all that’s ahead this week. We spent the weekend in Long Beach Island for a friend’s wedding, and it was so nice to spend some time on the beach (it was surprisingly warm for early October) and catch up with friends. I think we were all feeling a little worse for wear after a few days of pretending we were all back in college again, but that’s the sign of a good wedding weekend, right?!

From what I heard, it seems like we missed a rather rainy, gloomy weekend in Chicago – so I’m hoping the weather clears up so we can start appreciating all the fall weather Chicago has to offer. I have a serious craving to spend time at a pumpkin patch, go apple picking – and hit up all the quintessential fall activities that make living in the Midwest magical this time of year. We’ll see if I can successfully convince anyone to take a fall road trip with me to knock it off my to-do list 😉As I’ve been transitioning to colder weather, I’ve been attempting to make room for more classic fall pieces that will last me for the next few months and beyond. Every time the seasons change, I feel inspired to break out of my usual rut/routine, which usually includes a massive purge in my closet to streamline my wardrobe. There are certain shirts and tops I haven’t worn in years…yet somehow they still end up finding their way into the back of my closet – so this year I’m finally breaking up with them and only keeping pieces I know I’m going to wear all season long.

I wrote last week about some fall pieces I scored from Gordmans that are versatile and easy to wear throughout the fall – and at a price you literally can’t beat. I also picked up this off the shoulder sweater (I’d had my eye on a few last fall, so when I found a version for $14, I was extra excited) and these Nine West high heeled booties that will be my go-to boots for going out, or bopping around the city on the weekend. They’ll make the coveted fall section of my closet (now mostly cleared out!), so I can get creative in figuring out a few different ways to wear each of them. In other news, I’m gearing up for another busy week at work and yet another wedding this weekend to celebrate my friends Tomissa and Dave back home in Madison. I’m excited to spend some time with my family (even for just a few short days) and spend a few days escaping the city for a little bit. Hope you all have a good mix of work and play to look forward to too! xx
