Red Lace Skirt {From last season, but I love this similar one and this polka dot one!} // J.Crew Striped T-Shirt // Leopard Clutch {fold over and zip versions} // Metallic Tassel Flats {old, but similar versions here and here} //Ruffle Necklace
And just like that, February 14th is already here. While I’m all about celebrating love (I’m a big fan of all things love related), it’s definitely a day that elicits some sort of strong feeling from everyone – whether you love Valentine’s Day or loathe it. To be totally honest, I’m a little on the fence myself about how I feel about it myself, so this year I’m focusing on being thankful for the people who I am so lucky to love in my life. I bought some ridiculous chocolates for a few of my favorite girlfriends (like those over-the-top heart boxes that are bigger than your head), wrote some valentine’s to some of my besties who live far away, and called my parents who will always be my favorite valentines of all time (my mom was an elementary school art teacher, so she used to make me a cute valentine every year with her little kiddos! It was adorable).
I’ve definitely gotten dressed up for Valentine’s Day in the past, but this year I’m all about finding something comfortable and cute, rather than any sort of daring, deep neck, super short dress. I’m planning to go to dinner right after work, so it’s always a little bit of a struggle finding something workwear appropriate that can also double as a cute look for dinner. I don’t think anyone at work would appreciate if I showed up in a little black skimpy dress 😉 So my compromise is going to be this lace skirt paired with this t-shirt I picked up from J.Crew a few weeks back. The lip detailing on the pocket is pretty cute (and seasonally appropriate!) and also is comfortable under a blazer at work for the day. I’ve decided to sacrifice my legs in the cold because wearing pants just doesn’t seem right for Valentine’s Day, so I’m crossing my fingers that it’s a quick shot from my car to The Bristol for dinner. I’ll report back on if I made it home in one, not frozen, piece 😉 I’m going to pass on waxing poetic on love today, and instead just wish you all a wonderful Valentine’s Day, no matter if you’re spending it with best friends, co-workers, significant others, your dog, you name it. And on this lovely day fill of love, I’m sending you all of mine, especially if you happen to not be a big fan of Valentine’s Day. I’m thankful and oh-so appreciative of all of you for being such a wonderful, kind, and fun bunch of people that I’m so lucky to surround myself with on my corner of the internet. Whether we’re Instagram friends or friends in real life, I’m sending you love, a virtual cheers and hopes that you’re diving into a big box of chocolates (whether from yourself or someone else). I’ll be munching on my couch tonight right there with you 😉 xx
