Floral Dress {sold out, but similar here, here and here that I love!} // J. Mclaughlin Wicker Purse // Leather Heels {similar from the Nordstrom sale here, here and here} // Bubble Earrings {exact here, or similar here}
Happy Monday! I don’t know about you, but the struggle is SO very real today. I spent the weekend back in Madison and thought it was a great idea to drive to work from there this morning – which meant leaving at 5:30 AM {gah!!!!} Needless to say, there is not enough coffee in the WORLD to get me through the day, but at least I made it without too much trouble to the suburbs 🙂
I had a nice weekend back at home with my parents, enjoying every wonderful thing that Madison has to offer in the summertime. I swung by summer festivals, went hiking in the woods, spent too much money at our local co-op, and cooked up some delicious meals with my dad {who is one helluva chef!} It was nice to just sit back and relax a bit, while getting to enjoy a few beautiful summer days without the hustle and bustle of Chicago. While I love the city, it’s sometimes pretty nice to getaway and go home for the weekend. While I’ve been enjoying summer whole-heartedly over here, I’ve been noticing that for the last few weeks, everyone and their mother has started to talk about fall – whether it’s craving a Pumpkin Spice Latte or dreaming of sweater season. And don’t get me wrong, I love fall just as much as the next gal, but I’m over here soaking up the summer for as long as I possibly can. When I know it’s inevitably is going to be grey and cold for 6+ months sooner than later, all I want to do is throw on a summer dress and head to the beach before it’s too late!
So rather than jumping on the train of buying fall clothes, I’ve been trying to get as much wear out of the my favorite summer dresses of the season. I picked up this pretty Lucky Brand maxi on super sale and have been looking for any and every excuse to wear it on the weekends {date night? check. Weddings? check. Sitting in my living room watching Netflix? double check.} It’s flattering with the high waist, and I love the delicate bow in the front to give it a little flirty feel. I’d also been seriously crushing on these ball earrings all summer long, and I finally pulled the trigger to buy them at my friend Ali’s shop Alice and Wonder {which is conveniently located right down the street from my house!}. Paired with this adorable wicker bag I picked up from J. Mclaughlin {because I’d been eyeing their wicker bags for forever and decided to finally take the plunge!} I’ve been wearing this whole outfit on rotation all season long, and I might just wear it until it’s freezing again in Chicago 😉 Are you guys looking forward to a fun week ahead? This week is a BUSY one, but I’m really excited that I get to spend a few days working in the city to break up my week driving out to the burbs. There are tons of fun events, dinners and happy hours in Chicago this week – and it’s so exciting to get to be in town to go to {almost} all of them! Who knew I could be this excited about going out after work? 😉 Have a good week! xx
Love this dress on you! It’s so pretty! And those earrings are too cute. I can’t believe tomorrow is the first day of August. Where does the time go?
Oh my gosh, Maya! Could you be any prettier?! Seriously. This dress was MADE for you. I absolutely love it. And, yes to embracing every last second of summer! Soon we will be buried under a foot of snow, so I want all the sunshine and warmth that’s left to get.
Love this dress on you Maya! The soft pink is such a pretty touch. Hope you’re having a great day and to see you so very soon xx
