MM.LaFleur Tory 3.0 Dress // Banana Republic Pumps // Cuyana Work Bag // Monica Vinader Necklace
Happy Monday! How was everyone’s weekend?! I enjoyed celebrating Tom’s birthday with friends, trying a new place downtown for dinner {have you been to Bad Hunter yet? It was SO good!} and relaxing as much as possible. It was such a treat being home after traveling around the Midwest the past few weekends, and I loved soaking up some summer time Chicago weather. And now we’re back to Monday…but luckily I can’t complain too much 😉
Speaking of Monday, does anyone else absolutely dread getting dressed for the work week ahead? Every Sunday I have some scaries, but honestly I sometimes stress out more about what I’m going to wear rather than the busy week ahead. After working at an agency for so many years, I never really had to dress up that much, but now after joining the corporate world I’m all dressy dresses and power-suits Monday – Friday. And honestly, it’s tough to completely change your wardrobe, especially when you’ve never had to buy corporate clothes in the past.
While I went to the typical dressed-up stores for my first few weeks at work – I quickly realized that I needed something that was a little more functional and comfy than what most of the stores had in their business section. I tried dress after dress, pant suit after pants-suit, and everything seemed unflattering and completely uncomfortable. When you’re investing your hard earned money on work clothes, you always want to find something both comfy and chic, and I was disappointed that finding cute workwear was becoming such a challenge.
Luckily for me, I discovered MM.LaFleur, a chic workwear line that makes finding comfortable and versatile workwear super easy to add to your wardrobe. I knew I needed a few pieces before I Â started my new job, so I ordered one of their Bento Boxes, a curated box filled with workwear pieces that are hand picked by a personal stylist. I just completed a survey that highlights how business-y your workplace is, chose your favorite types of pieces and your body shape, and then a box of beautiful pieces appears at your door a week later. It’s basically workwear magic! Anything that isn’t super flattering you can send back, and you’re only charged with the pretty pieces you decide to keep.
Knowing that I was going to a much fancier work environment, I opted to try a few different dresses in my Bento Box. There were so many good pieces that my stylist sent me, but ultimately I loved this black crepe dress best of all. It’s super comfortable, flattering in all the right places {always a little harder than you’d think!} and perfect for a long day in the office – even with a very long commute 😉 I also loved a few blazers and skirts, but decided to stick to a few essentials to expand my work wardrobe down the road. I’ll definitely be ordering a few more boxes in the future when I decide to invest in more workwear pieces! I love that MM.LaFleur’s dresses have the perfect details to make you feel chic in the office, from the perfect hemline, ruched details, and comfortable waistlines to make you feel like you can eat Chipotle without looking like a burrito – because that’s a very real struggle 😉 I’m so busy between work, life and blogging that having pieces delivered right to my door is the only way I can really go shopping these days. Thankfully MM.LaFleur has everything I need to look office-chic without taking up too much of my time to go from store to store, disappointed in the not-so-flattering pieces I usually end up stress buying. A few of my other favorite details for work include these pretty heels, this gorgeous necklace that’s perfect for work, and my Cuyana work bag that I’ve been obsessed with for the last year. It makes me feel a little more fancy having a few go-to work pieces that I love, especially on those work days where I don’t quite feel so together.
Anyone else struggle finding perfect workwear? You definitely need to give MM.LaFleur’s Bento Box a try! If you’re as busy as I am, it will seriously be a game-changer when it comes to your workwear wardrobe. xx
I love this look for the office! Your dress is so classic, and wearing black is so chic! I’m thankful my office has a casual dress code. It’s been helpful not to have to build a maternity wardrobe of fancy work clothes. I do sort of miss getting dressed up for work, but most days you can’t beat the ease of wearing denim. Love your heels too, Maya!
YAY! So beautiful, Maya. Miss you!
