While it doesn’t actually feel like spring outside {what is happening 30 degree weather?!} I’ve been trying to add a little more springy shades to my beauty routine. Clearly the weather isn’t cooperating with me, but at least my beauty bag is looking a little more refreshed!
As a self proclaimed lipstick lover, I always get excited to check out the newest shades for the season, and spring’s bright hues are exactly what I’ve needed to add a little more pep to my step. For years I was afraid about wearing red lipstick because I didn’t think I could pull of such a bold look – but the older I get the more I’ve been experimenting with brighter shades. Now, I barely ever leave my condo without at least a few shades of bright red lipstick {you know…just in case 😉 }
I was lucky enough to try out Elizabeth Arden’s newest moisturizing lipsticks and fell completely in love with their pretty, long lasting shades. Since I barely ever shoot blog photos without at least a swab of pink lipstick, I’m sure I’m going to be getting a lot of use out of these guys all season long. While they’re all ridiculously addicting, I think the classic Marigold shade may be my favorite – and I’ve been stashing mine in my purse for cocktails with the girls after work or weekend adventures. If you’re looking for the perfect red lipstick, I highly recommend giving these bad boys a try! Another brand that I recently discovered {I know, I’ve clearly been out of the loop!} is Pixi, which I’ve been wanting to try out for years. I first noticed the brand while perusing the aisles of Target {you know, for bananas, which turned into a $150 purchase…} and was always a big fan of the packaging and their array of makeup and skincare products. I’d heard amazing things about the brands Glow Tonic from A Piece of Toast, so when Mimi Chatter sent me some goodies in their recent beauty bag, I was excited to give it a try! And as promised, it was pretty magical {especially for the pretty affordable $15 price tag} and exfoliated, brightened and actually made my skin glow. I’m excited to dive into their Overnight Glow Serum {a personal fave!} and eye shadow palette next and I’ll make sure to report back with the good news 😉 And because my hair seriously needs some love these days {is it just me or has it been split end city around here?} I’ve been rekindling my love for Aveda products with a few of their newest products I’ve been loving.
As a gal with seriously limp hair, I’ve always been a big fan of Aveda’s Volumizing Tonic, and their Control Force and Air Control hairspray have always been go-to’s when I need to give my hair a little more body before going out {and of course, who can resist that seriously incredible smell?}. I love that their hairsprays has a net-zero impact on the environment unlike most hairsprays in aerosol cans and that it always works like a charm. I’ve been really loving the minis for big events like weddings and galas so I can pop it in my purse or clutch for a quick pick me up halfway through an event too.
The other big news on the Aveda front is that they finally have a new dry shampoo! Elizabeth and Kara over at Beauty Bets recently reviewed it, and I couldn’t have said it better myself! Believe us when we say, we’re freaking excited. It’s my new favorite dry shampoo and it smells like a DREAM. We’ll be using it on repeat all summer long between trips to the beach, working out, and just maybe being a little bit lazy on the weekends 😉 I’ve been writing up a storm on my favorite spring beauty obsessions elsewhere, so if you’re looking for more goodies, make sure to pop over at Beauty Bets and Wandeleur! And because I’m always open for more suggestions, I’d love to hear about your spring beauty faves too! There’s always room in my makeup bag for one more 😉
So much beauty goodness! I’ve been keeping my eye out for the Pixi glow tonic – I’m glad to hear it lives up to the hype!
It really does!!! Let me know if you give it a try 🙂 xx
I LOVE that first photo, Maya! So cool!
And yes — I’m looking out for that, too. 🙂
