Oh hello there!
It’s been a little quiet over in my neck of the woods recently {oops, so sorry about that!} I had all the intentions in the world to be super productive the last week to get everything together, but I’ve been seriously falling behind as of late. I’m sure you know the feeling – but for some reason this week has been worse than usual and a little tougher too. Bear with me as I get it together over here, hopefully it will be sooner than later!
In other news, spring has been seriously teasing us Chicagoans for the last few weeks, and even though I’m ready to refresh my life the weather is really not cooperating. I’ve been in this mode where I want to get rid of the clutter, make some changes to my usual routine and revamp my closet for warmer weather, but so far not a ton of progress has been made. The one thing I have been able to accomplish is my new kick to minimize my wardrobe with only things that I truly love, and it’s been a nice change to pace to find creative ways to re-wear my favorite pieces. So far I have a lot of blue and white stripes making the cut {as evidenced by the outfit below ;)} Minimizing your closet is usually easier when you invest in classic pieces, but unfortunately they don’t always come at a steal. To save on a few pieces I’d been coveting, I teamed up with ThredUp to add the perfect pair of black heels and a work bag to my wardrobe. ThredUp is one of my favorite online resources for women’s high-quality second hand pieces – and they carry designers I love like J.Crew, DVF, Rag & Bone and more. I love that the items they sell are like new and curated by their consignment team, so you always know that whatever they have on their site is high quality and in near perfect shape.
While I’ve always loved second hand shopping in Chicago, sometimes it’s nice to be able to look at everything online without having to dig through racks and racks of clothing for that perfect pair of jeans or heels. It’s also nice that you can easily search for your favorite brands or pieces if you’re looking for something in particular, or sell those high end pieces you’ve been neglecting in your closet for months now. Because if you sell more clothes, you can buy more clothes right? You know I’m always here for moral and emotional support, friends 😉 This J.Crew purse basically had my name on it when I spotted it on ThredUp, and I love the navy and black combo. I’d been looking for a purse that would hold my work computer, and this one is perfect for commuting back and forth to work during the week. And when it’s about 75% off the original price, it’s kinda a win-win right? And these heels are another ThredUp steal! I’d been looking for a D’Orsay pair after I lost a heel walking around Chicago a few weeks back {really, it was straight out of a movie scene and I was hobbling down Randolph street like a champ…} so these have been perfect to wear to work or for drinks with the girls over the weekend. I’ll keep you updated on how this minimalist closet pursuit goes, but I’m hoping it saves me some money in the long run while making me really value the pieces I love. And if you’re in the market for new pieces, definitely check out ThredUp! I know I’ll be making some regular orders and selling some goodies soon 🙂 xx
thredUP is such a great site – it’s fun to shop around on there! I love how you paired all the stripes together in this outfit. I’m with you on cleaning out my wardrobe – less is more definitely is my approach as of late.
