Why I’m Staying Warm This Winter

Unless you’ve been living under a rock {which the bigger question would be – what’s that like?!}. you’re probably aware that it’s freaking freeeeeezing outside. Like, bone chilling, crazy cold, we’re not f*&%’n around freezing.

And for awhile I was convinced that I was going to suck it up no matter the weather and freeze my booty off in the name of fashion. And then after that New Years Eve post awhile back, I realized the serious error of my ways. I may be smiling in those pictures, but behind that awkward smile is me gritting my teeth and tears welling up behind my eyes. Yeah, as normal people would think – it’s actually, totally not worth it. Who knew?! {oh right, everyone else…}Charmingly-Styled-Winter-Style (9 of 19) So after deep, deep contemplation {which lasted about 30 seconds}, I realized that freezing my booty off in a dress isn’t something I’m going to do for the rest of the winter. While I love pretending like I’m having the BEST TIME EVER in negative 20 degree weather, I’m really not – and it’s really f’in cold. Bring me coats, and sweaters, and all things fuzzy and faux fur. It’s Chiberia after all and the world should know just how cold it really is! I hope you like coats, friends because you’ll be seeing a lot of them in the coming weeks 😉 Charmingly-Styled-Winter-Style (19 of 19)But really, I don’t always know why we freeze our butts off as fashion bloggers. Sure, it’s our job {or part time/hobby/dream job…}, but man – it’s hard to keep up in the wintertime. So I’m fully embracing all things with sleeves, and this little jacket caught my eye the other day while perusing for acceptable winter outfits online. First of all…sleeves {YAS}, second of all cozy {double YAS!} and third of all, I love this faux leather trim paired with this camel color for winter. I’ve been wearing it as a coat on warmer days, or to work with some comfy leather leggings to be workwear appropriate without completely freezing at my desk!Charmingly-Styled-Winter-Style (14 of 19)Charmingly-Styled-Winter-Style (12 of 19)Charmingly-Styled-Winter-Style (2 of 19)What really makes this look winter appropriate is this comfy faux fur stole Ashlei let me borrow the other weekend when she came over to snap a few pictures! She {very wisely} wore it over to my house, and it totally made the outfit even more chic. Needless to say, I spent the afternoon researching one to make my own {this one is currently in the running as #1!} I need one in my life, especially with this weather!Charmingly-Styled-Winter-Style (10 of 19)Charmingly-Styled-Winter-Style (15 of 19) So before I fully delve into my Chiberia blog posts for winter, any good tips for looking chic while not freezing your booty off? If you’re looking for me, I’ll be downtown on Michigan Ave in my free time, trying to find anything warm, comfy and winter appropriate 🙂Charmingly-Styled-Winter-Style (17 of 19)

One day I dream of a day without needing a coat 😉 I should probably move to the south (you had a good idea!) xx

My focus is totally on staying warm when it’s -10 in actual temps. That said, I have a pair of fleece leggings that are my go to for cold days under dresses when sweater tights won’t do it, and I also wear them under jeans if it’s below zero and I’m going to be outside for a bit. None of my jeans are super skinny, so nobody can really tell I’m wearing them. Wool socks are great too, especially with tall boots because again, nobody can tell I’m wearing the thickest socks ever.

I LOVE wearing fleece leggings under jeans! When it’s this cold you have to do whatever you can to stay warm! xx

It’s 23 degrees here in Kansas City today….practically a heat wave! Except we’re supposed to get snow 😉 I love the size of this bag. I mostly use crossbody bags, but the one I’m carrying right now is busting at the seams with things lol.

Whaaaaaaaat? I am so jealous of KC right now! I want to go to there 🙂 And thanks for the compliment on the bag – it’s one of my faves 🙂 xx

Such a chic, cozy look! I’m with you – coats are just part of the everyday wardrobe right now, so if people don’t want to see them in fashion posts, well, they shouldn’t visit our blogs for the next couple months. 🙂

Hi there, sassy thing! I LOVE this coat- and you in those leather leggings. Excuse me, WORK. Digging everything head to toe!

KC is a freezing mess right now, too (currently icing + snowing outside, sooo lovely). How many days until spring FOR REAL.

Real talk: there was definitely a big hole in the booty of my leggings – so you know, pretty classy 😉

And I’m sorry KC is freezing – usually it’s at least a little warmer! I’ll pray for all of us 😉 xx
