Ladies and gents – it’s been a hot minute since we moved into our apartment, and I’m officially ready to starting getting my bootay into decorating! We did some preliminary necessities when we moved in, and slowly but surely the place is starting to shape up nicely. But there’s still a huge part of my that feels like it’s all incomplete. It’s 80% there, but the details to pull everything together seem to be missing. So, I’m taking some Pinterest inspiration to heart and creating a little to-do list to inspire getting this house into a home {erm, or condo into a nicer condo.}
Here’s what I’m hoping to tackle before the end of the year – fingers crossed!
Shelving overhaul:
We’re lucky to have a nice amount of shelving in our living room, but it’s currently being used to hold a random assortment of goodies {cookbooks, camera equipment, stationary – it’s a mess and a half!} I love the colorful accents of the shelves above, and the fact that there’s still enough storage space to have everything in one place.
Kitchen love:
How cute is this chalkboard wall? Our kitchen definitely needs a little sumin’ sumin’, and adding a chalkboard wall might make it a little more fun. I could also use a bit more magical shelving, and I’m pretty tempted by this one from Ikea {spray painted gold of course!}
Our bedroom:
Oye. Our bedroom might be the bane of my existence in the decorating department. I’m not sure how it happened, but our bedroom became the land of misfit furniture over the past few months. We started replacing a a few of our older pieces {tv console, side tables, etc.}, and they made their way up the stairs into our bedroom somehow. In the room meant for relaxing, I find myself staring at the random furniture and getting a little stressed out at the prospect of rehabbing the room. Needless to say, this room needs some TLC before the end of the year’s out. I’m hoping for new shelves, night stands {this or this would do!}, new bedding and a much better dresser {and one that’s not falling apart please!}
Desk action:
Like most Chicagoans, I don’t actually have an office, just a corner of the house where I happen to keep my papers and things. Currently, it’s a hot mess – covered in mail, business cards, and a collection of the most random things possible. It needs an overhaul, so I’m hoping to organize it so it’s not such an eye-sore {since it tends to be one of the first things you see in our place!}
So, hopefully we’ll get this place into shape sooner than later! I’m hoping to enlist the stylish help of friends, so I’m open to any and all suggestions you might have!
I absolutely love home overhauls and redecorating! I love all your inspiration pics – I'm sure whatever you decide to do will look fabulous. xo
Love love love the inspiration you pulled! I wish I could paint a chalkboard wall (or ANY kind of wall) in my apartment. Sigh…maybe someday!
Girl, we've lived in our apartment for over 2 years and I still haven't fully decorated. It might have to do with the fact that our walls are concrete….eek. I can't wait to see what projects you whip up! I'm banking on some before and afters 😉
26 and Not Counting
I LOVE all this inspiration! The mix of patterns and colors is perfect. I've added things slowly to our home, but decorating always feels like a never ending project. I really want to do some sort of gallery wall, so we'll see how that goes:)
The chalkboard wall is a great idea, so fun:)
Those are amazing pictures!! So inspiring! I can't wait to see how it all comes together!!
can we talk about these pics?!?! YES PLEASE. can't wait to see the changes 🙂 xox
Love that desk and the shelving above it.
In my late 50s, I will have a bright pink or orange velvet sofa!
Side note: I've been looking to pick up some stuff from some of my favorite Chicago home stores! We should go one weekend!
Yes please, I would love that! Pick a weekend and we'll make it happen 🙂 xx
