chicago gems: rooftop sushi at nomi.

IMG_9896_2Some of my best memories have been made with friends over sushi. Maybe it’s because I tend to go out for sushi a lot, but I think there’s something kinda magical about how sushi brings people together over a shared plate of something so beautifully delicious.

Last week’s sushi at NoMi dinner with Windy City Blog Co. was no exception. Besides the gorgeous space and perfect summertime weather, a few of my favorite ladies feasted on the most delicious sushi spread I’ve ever seen. Some people say bloggers don’t really eat that much (the “you did not eat that” Instagram account comes to mind…) – but those people clearly have never been to a blogger event like this one 😉IMG_9839_2IMG_9835_2 IMG_9848_2The real celebration was the launch of NoMi’s Park Hyatt’s Sushi and Japanese inspired menu – full of delicious sushi and sashimi, maki and more.  While some people get a little squeamish about the notion of raw fish, I’ve become a super fan over the years and jump at the chance for fresh sushi and sashimi (yum….) It was just as delicious as you would imagine, and even more beautiful…just look at the pictures below!IMG_9854We started the night with the most delicious cocktail, “The Mean and Mighty” made of Botran reserva rum, kalani coconut rum, creme de Banane, angostura bitters, orgeat and lime (translation: it was like a delicious tropical dream – and gorgeous to boot!)IMG_9873 A deliciously vibrant seared salmon citrus plate – one of my favorites on the menu. IMG_9874Seafood ceviche that was just as tasty as it looks!IMG_9859_2A gorgeous rosé sangria with fresh edible flowers and fruit (yes, this is real life….)IMG_9880The most amazing sashimi plate that we couldn’t stop taking photos of – just look at those colors!IMG_9893_2IMG_9905 IMG_9912And last, but definitely not least, a deliciously salty and sweet sesame cake with warm cherries and whipped cream.

Basically, I had to roll myself home because everything was so darn good.  If you’re looking for a new place for sushi downtown, it’s worth checking out (and I will definitely be back for seconds soon!)
