Black Bow Dress {similar here, here and here} // D’Orsay Heels {other options here and here} // Purse {sold out, but love these here, here and here}
I have this bad little habit of making things more complicated than they have to from time to time. Most days I try to do everything – from micro-managing my calendar, attempting to bite off more than I can chew in most aspects of my life, to being a super-friend, girlfriend, daughter….but sometimes it get a little overwhelming, and I realize that if I would have tried to simplify everything that things would have probably gone a little better. Raise your hand if you tend to make things a little more complicated than they need to be too 😉
Rather than coming up with resolutions {that I definitely would have already ditched by now!}, I’ve been working toward my word of “simplify” for 2017. At first I thought it was just going to be about simplifying my closet and the beauty products crowding my bathroom sink, but it turned out to be much more of a change than I had previously anticipated. I started to simplify my relationships – investing in the people who invest more in me, focusing in on the people in my family who love me the most, and simplifying other aspects of my life I didn’t think about before. I’ve also been trying to simplify my style, and rather than going overboard in the accessories department, I’ve been finding pieces that speak for themselves.The more I’ve been thinking about simplification, the more I’m realizing that the greatest things are usually the simplest. Take this little black shift dress for example. It’s the perfect shape, with the best feminine bow details, and while it’s simple, it can totally stand on it’s own. A few years ago I would have paired it with rings, and bracelets and necklaces galore to “jazz it up just a little”, but popping this on with my favorite pair of heels and my go-to purse becomes an easy breezy outfit, fit for date night or grabbing drinks downtown with friends. I don’t need to add the bling or make myself stand out, because it’s perfect just the way it is. Usually simplified, understated outfits are the best outfits of all. Speaking of simple, I’m keeping this post short and sweet so I can go out and enjoy some much needed TV time with Tom {we’ve been watching Sneaky Pete and Big Little Lies, is anyone else obsessed too?}. After a long day of work, there’s nothing I love more than cuddling up with a big {and I’m talking big } glass of wine, pjs, and cozying up with my favorite guy. I hope you spend part of the day doing something simple that you love too! xx

Awwww, thank you lady! You’re so sweet 🙂 xx
One of my absolute favorite looks on you! I’m with you – these days, I find myself reaching for less jewelry even if I just have a tee and jeans on. Simplicity is just easier and lets our natural beauty shine through! 🙂
You are so sweet! And I’m right there with you, sometimes simple is the best 🙂 Have a great week lady! xx
The older I get the more I realize that simple outfits really are the best. This dress is adorable! I love the sleeve details.

Oh, I love the idea of choosing a word for the year. Simplify is such a good one to incorporate into all areas of life. This dress is perfect and I love the sleeves. You look amazing!
Thank you lady! I’ve been trying to keep things simple, and it’s been nice to have one word to focus on vs. a million resolutions I never keep, haha. Hope you have a wonderful week! xx
Hi Maya! The link to the dress doesn’t go to that dress — it goes to a scalloped dress at Club Monaco! Where is the one you are wearing from?
Love this look!
