Seasons of Change

It’s the first day of fall, and my head is already spinning with the changing of the seasons. There’s something (very much needed) about a fresh start with the seasons, and I’ve been craving a new perspective after a few months of feeling like I was stuck in a little bit of a rut. Chalk it up to lots of work, still navigating the trials and tribulations of a long distance relationship (guys, it’s tough – how do people do this for so long?!) and everything in between. I’m not trying to have a pity party by any means, but honestly – it’s not all been sunshine and rainbows (since life definitely doesn’t quite work like that!)

But as I was thinking this past weekend, I realized that even when things aren’t going amazingly, you always two options: making the best of your situation or changing it. And living in the in-between isn’t living. And I realized that I’ve been living more in the grey area these days than picking a side. There’s fear in going all in, but for some reason the changing of the seasons reinvigorates you to make decisions, feel like you’re ready for a new challenge, or at least to feel refreshed. And that’s exactly that you need sometimes 🙂 Speaking of refreshed(ish) – I’ve been planning a few fun things – and

Things I’ve been loving (and looking forward to!) so far this fall:

  • I’ve been getting home from work pretty late, so I basically just have the energy to make a quick dinner, pour a large glass of wine, and binge watch Netflix before bed.
    • I’ve been binge watching The Righteous Gemstones (so good!), and now I’m on to The Politician on Netflix.  Both shows are great, but I’m especially obsessed with Lucy Boynton’s style in The Politician, and I’m basically just wishing I was 5 years younger and looked just like her – dating Rami Malik wouldn’t be terrible either 😉
  • For months I’ve been avoiding shopping, but since the season’s changing, I’ve been getting into the fall (shopping) spirit. I rounded up a few of my favorite buys for fall, many of which are currently in my shopping cart!
  • I need to get back onto my Peleton (I finally splurged and bought one – dear lord it’s expensive, but also good if you avoid working out like the plague and are easily moved by purchase guilt). I’ve been liking classes by Hannah Marie Corbin, so much so that I basically only take her classes these days. Mayyybbbee I need to branch out, but her classes are good!
  • I’m planning a few fun trips in the next few months, and I’m so excited to venture outside of Chicago when it’s starting to get cold (it’s the only way to survive!).
    • I have a trip to Nashville at the end of the month to see Kacey Musgraves and Maggie Rodgers with one of my best friends who moved down to Nashville at the end of August! It’s my first time going to Nashville, and I’m so excited to see firsthand why everyone loves the city so much.
    • I’m hoping to plan another trip to San Francisco next week (I desperately need to buy tickets ASAP, oops!) to visit Tom, spend some time in the city, and work from my favorite cafe in the neighborhood.
    • My family and I also just planned a fun trip to Portugal over the holidays! We went to in and around Lisbon in 2015 and it was one of the most amazing trips – so I’m so excited to go back! Tom’s planning to come before NYE too, so we’ll be ringing in the New Year a little earlier this year.

So, despite working on getting out of my post-summer funk, I have a lot of fun things on the horizon to look forward to in the next few months! If you have any tips on places to see and things to do in Nashville or Portugal, please share – I’m still planing my trips for later in the year! xx
