Good morning, friends! I know it feels like we’re just getting into the swing of summer, but somehow, it’s already August and back to school is on the brain. Where did the time go? I feel like after weeks of rain in Chicago we’re finally starting to get into that Summertime Chi groove, but I can’t lie – I’m actually a little excited for back to school and fall to start in the next few weeks. Not because I don’t love summer (because of course it’s the most magical time of year), but because I get to buy a few more fall closet staples and get at those back to school sales 😉

While I don’t have to go back to school shopping myself these days, I do like to add a few staples to my wardrobe to pretend like I’m back in college again. And I might live vicariously through my friend’s younger siblings (and our interns at work) with their back to school celebrations – totally normal, right? I miss the excitement of going back to school though – the nervous excitement of starting a new year, getting to see your friends again after a long summer and swapping stories, and having a few “syllabus weeks” before the real work started getting serious. I wish we had more “syllabus weeks” in real life, but at least we get to make up for it with back to school shopping.

I always like to mix up my style, so I try to find affordable, classic pieces I can wear a variety of ways. Enter my friends at Kohl’s who have a ton of fun, contemporary brands that are chock full of amazing pieces. When I was in high school and college, I loved rocking Mudd clothing from Kohl’s (they were definitely low rise, boot cut jeans back then – throwback!) and I went shopping a few weeks ago and discovered that Mudd’s clothing line is still at Kohl’s – and better than ever. They have way more than jeans, and they’re a feminine yet casual brand that has a nice blend of classic silhouettes and more free-spirited options.

I picked up these cute high button Mudd skinny jeans that are made with FLX fabric that make them super comfy and stretchy, which is how jeans should be – and they’re perfect paired with a cute graphic t-shirt or lace camisole for a flirtier look. I’ve also been on the hunt for a cute camo jacket for the past year, and I found this cute Mudd cropped option that’s also a jacket (and less than $50!). It’s cute with black skinnies, but I have a feeling I’ll be wearing it with other denim pants, and a leather pencil skirt I just picked up too!

Kohl’s has ton of back to school options, and they’re having a huge sale on all their junior’s brands starting this week! From 8/2 to 8/18, you can get $10 off any $50 BTS purchase, including Mudd apparel, which makes back to school shopping even sweeter. I’m probably going to go back and pull the trigger on a cute pair of faux leather pants that fit like a dream – and you’d never guess they’re under $50 too 😉
