Cozy for a Steal

Jeans, Jacket, T-Shirt and Purse from Gordman’s (all under $100!)

Good morning, and happy Monday! I’m actually really excited for today because I’m back in my routine (and back in the office) after a week and a half long adventures for work that took me to Jacksonville and NYC. While I love traveling for work, it’s nice to get back into a groove again – especially now that the craziness of the Super Bowl is over – woot woot!

I celebrated my 30th birthday this weekend, and had a blast ringing in a new decade with family and friends. My friends were so sweet and planned a party for me on Friday night, and I felt so lucky to have friends from all over the city (and beyond!) come celebrate with me in a Napa themed birthday party – filled with many bottles of wine, cheese and the best company around. Over the past few weeks I was definitely feeling nervous about turning 30 – it feels like such a big milestone and part of me feels like I still have so much to accomplish and do. But seeing all my friends on Friday made me realize how lucky I am, and many of them calmed my nerves about entering my 30’s – I have a feeling I have a lot to look forward to 🙂

Saturday was my actual birthday, and my parents and grandpa (who’s 93 and the cutest, sweetest man) came to Chicago and spent my birthday dinner with me. We went to HaiSouis, a really amazing Vietnamese restaurant in Pilsen, and had the most delicious meal. I’ve always wanted to try their whole fried fish with lettuce wraps and it did not disappoint (or the eggplant, pork soup, papaya salad, or curry too!). It was nice to ring in 30 with my favorite people, and I was super thankful they could all be there to celebrate with me.

I’ll probably write more about turning 30 soon, but I’m trying to spend the next few days catching up on blogging, life and my overflowing inbox at work! Hoping a few late nights catch me up in no time!      In other news, this weather has been so crazy the past few weeks – from negative 50, to sunny and warm, to another snow storm again yesterday. It’s been so cold that I’ve been constantly gravitating towards anything that’s warm, cozy, but still looks chic enough to wear to work or hanging out with friends on the weekends.

I stopped at Gordman’s a few weeks ago to pick up a few items, and I feel in love with a few pieces I found for an amazing steal. I  love that Gordman’s is always filled to the brim with bargains and incredible deals. They’re an off-price retailer, which means they buy excess pieces from other retailers to give you the best pieces at a seriously reduced price. One of my favorite pieces I picked up is this BB Dakota faux leather jacket filled with the softest, warmest shearling that will be keeping me cozy all winter long. I bought it for just $25, but it usually retails for around $150, which is a pretty incredible deal in my book. I also picked up these cute high waisted jeans, a simple white shirt from J.Crew and this purse from C.Wonder (remember them? They’re back!).  If you’re looking for your favorite fashion labels at a steal, Gordman’s is definitely worth checking out!    Are you guys up to anything fun this week? I’m looking forward to some Galentine’s Day celebrations with friends, catching up on work, and getting back into a more normal routine again for the rest of the month.

Happy belated birthday, girl! I’ll be joining the 30 club with you in just a couple weeks (the 27th!), so I’m glad to hear the next decade isn’t so scary after all. 🙂 Love this look on you, especially that jacket.
