While I’m definitely a fan of Valentine’s Day, over the years I’ve become even more of Galentine’s Day to take the time to appreciate all the badass, amazing women and friendships in my life. My friend Jen had the most amazing idea to have a chocolate tasting to celebrate Galentine’s Day a few weeks early, and we teamed up with SoChatti (an amazing chocolate company based out of Indianapolis!), and invited our friends over for a chocolate tasting. Of course, Jen made everything amazingly beautiful in her Girl Meets Party studio too to share how easy hosting a chocolate tasting at home can be!
We invited a few friends over, popped some champagne (and a few bottles of wine), and caught up while tasting some of SoChatti‘s amazing chocolates and delicious pairing combinations. It was nice to spend a night with a few of my favorite girlfriends (so many of whom I hadn’t seen in what had felt like forever) and catch up on life. It’s amazing what a night in with your favorite girlfriends can do for the soul – here’s to hoping there’s more of those nights this year! I’m definitely a chocolate lover, and SoChatti has become one of my favorite indulgences when it comes to hot chocolate or dipping chocolates for a party. SoChatti isn’t the standard chocolate you melt or squeeze in a bowl for dipping, it’s a premium pouch that you can either warm in a bowl of water, or use a sous vide (one of the easiest ways to melt their chocolates!). You can squeeze their easy pouches into bowls for dipping, or make shapes and designs on parchment paper to create fun, poppbale chocolate treats. SoChatti only has three ingredients in their chocolates (premium cacao nibs, organic cane sugar, organic cacao butter), so you know exactly what you’re eating and it’s all-naturale. I love that it’s an elevated experience that makes the typical process of melting chocolate a lot more elegant, plus it tastes amazingly delicious.
I got the SoChatti tasting kit on Amazon, and it’s perfect for a quick party set up because it comes with little spoons, bowls and comes with a flight of three chocolates – the Peru, Tanzania and Honduras chocolates. Jen created a chocolate flight (with wines, of course!), and paired each chocolate with a different fruit, nut or sweet combination. It was unbelievably tasty, and we honestly just ate some cheese and sliced Genoa salami on the side for a tasty, well rounded meal 😉 See the below of Jen’s tasty chocolate flight she put on the menu featuring SoChatti chocolates to give you a better idea of how easy hosting a chocolate tasting at home can be!
Hosting a Chocolate Tasting at Home – Galentine’s Day Chocolate Flight:
- 1st Flight: SoChatti Tanzania Chocolate paired with tropical flavors with a sweet wine (like Sophia Rae Brut Rose).
- We dipped strawberries and pineapple for the first course, and added some shaved coconut to smaller morsels we created on a piece of parchment paper.
- SoChatti Honduras Chocolate paired with dried fruits, nuts and peppermint with a white wine (like Party Favor Piot Grigio)
- For this course, we added a dried fruit medley (my favorite was the dried cranberries!), richer nuts like cashews and almonds, and peppermint chunks that paired well with the hearty Honduras chocolate flavors.
- SoChatti Peru Chocolate paired with strawberries and macadamia nut cookies with a red wine (like Plunder’s California Pinot Noir)
- Who doesn’t love chocolate drizzled on a cookie? Plus, chocolate dipped strawberries are the perfect Valentine’s or Galentine’s treat – and this was another delicious option to complement the Tanzania course we started with.
Clearly, we had a blast, and maybe just enough champagne too 😉
One of my goals for this year is to cultivate my friendships more (and be a better friend too!). When life gets crazy, it’s sometimes easier to let friendships fall by the wayside, but I’ve come to learn that I need my girlfriends in my life so much more than I ever knew. I’m hoping to spend a lot more time with my favorite gals, whether it’s for Galentine’s Day, a monthly book club, or a wild Tuesday night-in, more time with friends is something I’m hoping to plan for a lot more this year. Less excuses that I’m busy at work, more time with the people I truly love and care about. Oh, and more chocolate and wine too – of course! I hope you have Galentine’s Day plans to look forward to in the coming weeks – and if not, get something in the books! Otherwise if you have someone you love, I’d highly recommend a cozy night in with chocolate tasting, wine and a Netflix show or movie to binge. Plus, now you know how easy it can be hosting a chocolate tasting at home, so you still have enough time to coordinate a little something sweet for your favorite person – whoever that may be 🙂
Thanks to SoChatti for sponsoring this post (and giving me the perfect excuse to hang with my girlfriends!). All opinions are my own, as always!
Looks yummy! and this looks like the cutest party!! 🙂
