My Secret to Making the Holidays More Affordable

Dress, Boots, Tights, Purse, and Jewelry all from Gordmans

Oh heyyyyyy, holidays! You’re officially here, and (as usual) completely snuck up on me. It feels like the last few months have totally flown by, and all of a sudden Christmas and New Years are right around the corner. And I’m of course scrambling to get all my gifts bought, getting my calendar straight, and get my holiday outfits picked out.

Besides the typical gatherings with friends and family, there’s lots of work parties to plan for – more so than years past. I work at a company that has their annual holiday party (the one formal gathering of the season), but then since I work on a bunch of different brands, each brand has their own party too. So clearly, I’ve justified buying lots of new clothes because I now have so many reasons to be festive! 😉

And as I’m sure you all know, the holidays are crazy expensive – between all the events, gifts and get-togethers, my credit card bill is not pleased with me. Luckily, Gordmans has tons of holiday outfits and gifts for a serious steal, so I can load up on everything I need for the holidays without breaking the bank. If you’re not familiar with Gordmans, they’re an off-price retailer, which means they buy excess inventory from department stores at amazingly reduced prices – which means they can offer the best deals for you on your favorite brands. I’ve been shopping at Gordmans for years, and every time I go it’s like a treasure hunt where I’m easily able to find amazing pieces for an even more amazing price!  I bought this whole outfit for an upcoming holiday party from Gordmans for under $100 – including the dress, tights, jewelry, shoes and purse. Since Gordmans grantees that they have the lowest price, they stock a ton of treasures from some of my favorite stores, with everything at a price point that’s incredibly affordable. This dress is from Express, and the perfect holiday red for parties with co-workers and friends. I love the flattering neckline (those loop details!), sheer long sleeves and cinched waist that makes it so flattering for winter. I also picked up some perfectly chic accessories, like these Nine West booties and BCBG Generation purse. I love that their super classic pieces that work with everything, and the timeless gold accents make them pretty for winter and beyond. The necklace was another Gordmans find – and only $6 with the matching earrings! Not too shabby for an outfit that would have easily cost nearly $250 if I bought it somewhere else. Plus, they also have tons of holiday décor for your home, and an amazing selection of gifts that are all affordable – so you can check off everyone on your Christmas list, all while going under budget. Who would have thought that was even close to being possible over the holidays?! Do you have any holiday hacks to make this time of year more affordable? Whether it’s homemade gifts (I have some suggestions here!), finding deals, shopping at more affordable places – I’d love to know if you have any tips! Myself and my bank account could appreciate any guidance 😉 xx
