What I’m Packing for Winter in Portugal

Sherpa Jacket (sold out, but similar options here, here and here. More options below in the post!) // High Waisted Jeans // Snakeskin Booties

Oh heyyyyyyy, Monday! You’re back….cool cool cool (insert eye roll here)

But I can’t complain too much, because this is my LAST WEEK OF WORK IN 2019! I’m a little human stress ball to be gone for 3 weeks (I leave 12/16 and get back 1/5 – aye!!!), but I have a really kick-ass group of co-workers who are nice enough to hold down the fort for me while I’m gone. I’m 95% sure nothing will be broken or on fire by the time I come back (although they may be feeling otherwise right about now ;))

Anyways, I’m headed to Portugal in exactly 7 days with my family, and I couldn’t be happier to be going on another trip with them. My dad and I started a tradition when I was in college to go on an international trip together every other year, and now that my mom and him are both retired, it’s been nice to all travel together. We went to Portugal together back in 2015 and had so much fun that we thought we’d go back over the holidays and explore more of the country. So we’re planning to land in Lisbon and spend a few days there, head up to Porto, and then do some time in the Douro Valley to explore a few Portuguese wineries. I’m so excited to unplug for so long and explore more of the country with them (and bring back a ton of wine too, of course!)   Portugal is going to be more fall-like than warm when we’re visiting, so I’m planning to pack my favorite fall pieces while traveling. And one piece I love is this super cozy sherpa moto jacket I picked up when I visited my friend Evalyn in Nashville a few weeks back. It’s super warm, soft and I love that it’s a different version of the sherpa coat everyone has (don’t get me wrong, I love the long, oversized version too, but this one is a little more unexpected!). I definitely splurged a big when I bought this jacket, but I’ve been trying to invest in pieces I really love – and it has a nice memory of shopping with one of my best friends for it too. I scoured the internet for the exact jacket from Rino & Pelle, but it looks like it’s sold out, so I rounded up a few of of my favorite alternative options below! If you’re looking for a cozy jacket that’s different than the typical sherpa jacket, this one is definitely a winner!

Besides this cozy jacket, I’m planning to bring this pair of Marc Fisher heels that are perfect for a night out (I’ll be there for New Years Eve after all), and are surprisingly comfortable to walk in. I honestly hate wearing heels (and avoid it at all costs), but these heels are surprisingly comfortable and not too high that you can’t walk in them. Plus, I love that they’re a pretty green color that pops with jeans, or blends in a little more with a little black dress!

Besides fun pieces, I’ll also be brining lots of sweatshirts, jeans, and a few more fall-ish dresses that I didn’t get to wear too much during the super quick fall we had in Chicago. The nights are supposed to be chilly, so I’ll be packing a few jackets, sweaters, and a cashmere scarf too. I tend to leave packing to the last minute, but I’ll share what I ended up bringing (and what I found the most useful) after my trip once I’m back! Hope everyone has a productive week that’s full of a few things that you’re really excited for. AND, I know the holidays are crazy and a half, so make sure to take some time to give yourself a little TLC, the gift-wrapping can wait a few days if needed 😉 xx
