It’s officially the holiday season, which is both exciting and slightly stressful all at the same time. Look, don’t get me wrong – I love all the festive excitement around the holidays, but it’s also the time of year where I’m forced to wear a tight velvet dress during negative 20 degree days in Chicago. The struggle is real, but at least we all look cute doing it, right? Or something like that…
There are a few beauty hacks I pride myself on during the colder weather – from finding the most moisturizing lip balm to protecting my hair from the Chiberia cold, but one thing I’d never really mastered is shaving my legs during the coldest days of the year. I try to avoid over showering and drying out my skin, so shaving isn’t always top of mind (oops!), but I finally figured out a hack that make shaving a little more enjoyable. Let me explain…
First of all, I absolutely dread shaving my legs, mostly because it’s annoying to have to do so often (it doesn’t seem fair that only women have to keep their legs perfectly manicured, right?!) and because 99% of the time I shave I end up cutting my legs. I try to be careful, use shaving cream, really make it into a self-care ritual, but nearly every time I end up nicking my legs or ankle and it inevitably bleeds like it’s never going to end. I know I sound a bit dramatic, but honestly – it’s pretty darn annoying. I have little knobby legs which makes shaving even more tiresome, and most of the time I wear a dress or a skirt for an event or a photoshoot, you’ll see little Band-Aids all over my legs. And as much as I’d like to pretend it’s a fashion statement, it’s really not 😉 So, long story short, I discovered the Philips SatinShave electric razor, and I was super intrigued to try it. It’s a razor that you can use wet or dry, and it’s designed for nick free shaving. I was a little skeptical at first since I’ve clearly never found a razor that hasn’t left me looking wounded afterwards, but I was pleasantly surprised that it left my legs super smooth and actually cut free. It has a floating foil shaving head that maintains close contact to your skin for an even shave, and an S-shaped handle which allows for a better reach all over your body. I especially love that it’s specially designed to reach curvy areas on your legs and body for less missed hairs, and it doesn’t cut my knobby knees and ankles in the process! Since it’s been colder outside, I’ve been using it dry to do quick touchups too, because honestly, if it’s winter in Chicago you really only need to shave your ankles 95% of the time. And since I’m not using it too much, the charge in the Philips SatinShave razor lasts forever (alright, it lasts 1 hour to be exact, but that’s basically forever when it comes to shaving in the winter!). I know it might sound silly, but honestly – this Philips SatinShave is definitely a game changer in my book! I used to think electric razors were just for guys, but I’m happy that I was wrong – and that they make shaving a little less of a headache, especially when it’s cold outside.
