And just like that…it’s Monday again. I wish I could have had one more day in between Saturday and Sunday, but unfortunately time doesn’t work like that 😉
But despite the weekend feeling pretty short, I tried to lay low as much as possible enjoying the most beautiful fall weekend in the city. I walked around Lincoln Park with my college roommate who came for a quick 24 hour visit, did a fall shoot with Hannah (the leaves are finally so pretty!), and recreated Blue Door Kitchen’s Brussel sprout salad with Kit (really meaning that she made it, I was just the taste tester). We also started watching Modern Love on Amazon Prime and definitely cried – it’s so good, but also kinda destroys your heart…just to build it back up again. It’s fine…everything’s fine…moving on….
The weeks are so crazy, that it’s nice to have some time to lay low and actually relax before mentally preparing for the Monday ahead. Plus, I’m super excited this week because I’m visiting my friend Evalyn in Nashville and I leave Thursday after work! She just moved from living down the block from me in Chicago for 5 years, and so it will be nice to catch up and see her new life in Nashville. I’ve never been before and I’ve only heard wonderful things. Plus, we’re seeing Kacey Musgraves and Maggie Rodgers on Friday, which is basically my dream concert. Really excited for all us to all be BFFs by the end of it. Don’t kill my dreams!
Anyways, I thought I’d share a post of what I actually bought myself for fall this season. And, warning – I spent way more money than I thought I would after being pretty responsible over the past few seasons. But fall is my favorite season to dress, and I told myself I’d use my credit card points to splurge on something I’ve always wanted, but wouldn’t ever buy for myself otherwise. And yes, I know that’s not the best use of my credit card points, but (I’ve been told many times!), but I’m really excited about these new loafers in my life. So, without further ado – here’s what I actually bought this season!Â
- BlankNYC Jacket: Speaking of my friend Evalyn, she always has the most magical jackets – and she had a similar one to this cranberry one that I’d always loved. I’ve been eyeing them on Nordstrom until my photographer Hannah gave me the tip that sell them on Nordstrom Rack too! I bought this one for under $100 and I’m so excited for it to come in the mail, and now that Evalyn lives in Nashville, we can officially have the same clothes without too much awkwardness finding out we’re wearing the same thing at dinner (not that we really cared before since half our wardrobe is the same ;))
- THE GUCCI LOAFERS: You guys, I’m so excited for these to finally come in the mail! After  wanting these loafers for the past 2-3 seasons, I finally saved up enough credit card points to buy some gift cards and get $600 off these. I wouldn’t have ever bought them full price (they’re ridiculously expensive), but I’m excited to finally have a pair of my own. I’m probably going to be too scared to wear them that often because they’re so damn nice, but we’ll see. I ordered a half size smaller because I read a few reviews that they run a bit big, so crossing my fingers that they fit!
- Scotch and Soda Leopard Sweater: I first saw this sweater at Anthropologie, and since I’ve had a leopard print obsession this year, I kept an eye on it throughout the season. Since most things at Antropologie eventually go on sale, I assumed this sweater would be around for a hot minute – but it sold out after a few weeks. Luckily Shopbop still had it, and I snagged it for 25% off when they were having a sale. It’s not super thick, but it feels a little silky for a sweater, and it’s perfect for wearing with a skirt, or layering with a leather jacket on a colder fall day.
- Flare Overalls (these are $30!): Overalls are fashionable again?! Not sure how that happened, but definitely not mad about it. I think there’s a new subset of fashion that should be called “toddler style” (headbands, leggings, overalls, etc.) that I’ve officially become a big fan of. I found a pair of Frame flare overalls at Nordstrom Rack that I love, so much I even got them hemmed (which is the first time I’ve hemmed anything – game-changer!), and I’m excited to wear them around town and the office this fall.
- Leopard Tennis Shoes: I’ve been on a big white leather tennis shoes kick, and I spotted these on Shopbop with the cutest leopard detail on the back. It’s a fun way to jazz up a regular paid of white leather tennis shoes and makes them a little more exciting without going over the top – and best of all, they’re under $100!

Alright, it’s time to kick off the week! Hope you all have lots of fun things to look forward to, and it’s a productive one too. xx
